Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Tags:Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

I am a super hero of organizing, sometimes to a fault.

my superpower is my anxiety. I've struggled- but it has taught me so much. I notice things, I'm an excellent listener, brainstormer, give great empathy and sympathy.

I think my superpower is the power of memory. But believe me this power is not used for good! (As my husbands puts it!) It's not a memory to be come a doctor or scientist or politician - I remember all those stupid little things that other people can filter out. Who's dating who in the celebrity world, entire conversations from 2 years ago, what my girlfriend and I were wearing to go out one night as sixteen year olds (as writing this an entire night from being 17 and out with girlfriends just flooded back to me - what we were wearing, saying etc...and this is going back 14 years!)It used to be a joke that no one else had to remember cause Jen will! But it will be great when my kids are older cause I will be able to tell them stories word for word of our history together and maybe one day I'll have the time to write them all down!
Oh and my friends call me "Mini-Martha". I have the power of food and crafts. It's a good thing!

oh this is great on two levels, one that necklace is just gorgeous and two, it is such a wonderful thing to recognize my own superpower.
my superpower is this, when in a situation when chaos is imminent or someone is on the verge of losing or it's just a very special moment when things need to go just so... I have the ability to step in and make things right.
example is on Sundays, getting ready for church with 4 smallish people can be chaotic/hectic/crazy and I know that my husband's blood pressure goes through the roof in these situations (when you need to get somewhere by a certain time & everyone is not into helping to get to "that" point of departure).
I have the gift of making it go as smooth as I possibly can and yet, allow the other person to feel like they contributed to the overall success of the "project".
so wordy, but I'm just saying, I have a gift of calmness (at times) and do my best to make others feel calm and like it's all going to be A.O.K!

This is not easy, you're right! As a mom, I never think of myself as a "superpowered person", I guess because I just do what I have to do because my kids and my husband rely on me. Being organized and put together is probably my biggest "superpower" that I have. I hope that someday my children will inherit that quality that both me and my husband share. :)

Great question - it's definitely making me think and be positive about myself. My superpower is my sense of humor. I love to laugh...and make others laugh. Even when things are difficult, laughing helps ease the stress. Thanks for this question and giveaway. The necklace is gorgeous!

I am a super power care manager, soon to be supervisor! I get care for people over 65 so they don't have to go to a nursing home! I find services, equipment, supports and funding for the most needy, poor and worthy people! Most of all I listen to their LIFE stories, that helps me find a way to keep their life full, valuable and independent.

I am SUPERSTARTER! I can become inspired by an idea and get it started and have it become the sole focus of my life for hours, days or even weeks on end! Now if only I could combine that power with being SuperFinisher as well!

Oh my gosh I simply must have that necklace. Seriously, it's so me!!
I would have to say that my super power is to turn negative things into a positive. I tend to find the happy in the sad and make things better. It may not be a super power, but it sure does make life a little more fun.
And Andrea if you are reading...WOW! You have the most beautiful jewelry I've ever seen. I love the colors and the patterns and all of it. Way to go!!

My super power is being creative under pressure. If there is an idea out there, I can think of a million ways to make it happen. I get this from my grandmothers from both sides of the family. Unfortunately, I did not find out how creative they were until after they passed. I dedicate my creativity to them.

I am a planner...and while this can also be a detriment, it helps me survive. I plan and prep meals for the week (on the weekend) so the weekend goes smoothly. This includes chopping vegies, packaging desserts, carrots, chips, etc for lunches, and preparing the shopping list, so I don't have to run to the store mid-week. This helps the week go smoother, and contributes to me not stressing out as much.

My super power would have to be my thoughtfulness. I often send cards to friends for no reason or make things for people that I love.

I needed help with this one so I asked my grandson if everyone had a super hero power, what would mine be? I thought surely my super chocolate chip cookes would be part of his answer. Instead, he said that I'm smart and use my brain to generate force fields so other people can do things they didn't know they could do. I think that could be define as encouragement. Is that a super hero power?

I am a super diplomat. My sister always called me the peace-keeper growing up, and I realize I do have a way of being tactful and getting people to see both sides of any debate! Thanks for the chance to win!
