Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Tags:Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

Lovely giveaway. My superpower would be that I'm a peacemaker. Maybe the fact that I grew up with 4 brothers has something to do with it. Thanks!

great jewelry! I've loved Andrea's work for a while now too. Superpower: color-photographing it and helping other people see it in themselves.

unlimited patience. patience when there is no way I thought I had any more patience in me. patience when others give me looks that could take me down. patience with my children because I know things are different for them than for others. patience when I have no answer. patience is my superpower and I am grateful for it!

I have the ability to multi-task. I know it's not solely my own superpower, but it seems to be apparent in females.
Off to make lunches, do laundry, and clean my scrapspace, all at the same time!

Hmm..superpower? I was one of the ones that would have said "hmm i don't have one"..I'm in the middle of a really rough patch with hubby right now so I'm lacking "me" right now.....hmmm..I'd have to say that my power is being a SuperFriend. I get asked out to coffee a lot by friends, so i guess that I talk/listen/hug/laugh/love pretty darn good! lol.

I am a superhero teacher....at least most days. I feel good about inspiring my students to love reading. I am proud of the writing they are doing and the way they are beginning to see themselves as mini-authors. It's not always easy....but "with great powers comes great responsibilities."

I think that my superpower is the ability to love in many capacities--as a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mom, a friend, etc. We all have it inside of us. My favorite quote is: "The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return." If you give love you will get love!
And...I love the necklaces!

If we stop and think we do have many super powers. Mine is: I know where everything is in the house. No matter how messy or cluttered or even if it's not put back where it's supposed to be. Ask and I'll tell you EXACTLY or give me 60 seconds and I'll find it for you.
We should all have to go and make a page about our super hero powers. I am :)

My superpower is that I can almost read minds. I usually can predict what a person will say or wants before it happens and I can react proactively.
At work, they think I am "in tune" with people and at home, they think it's because I'm mom and I just know everything...

very cool necklaces!
My superpower is that I work 2 jobs (1 full time, 1 part time....in retail) and even at the end of a rough day I still have a smile on my face for guests at job #2. I'm exhausted beyond belief (I know, those of you with kids are most likely 10x more exhausted than I am) but I always try to smile and be happy when I'm helping guests at job #2.

Those are SO gorgeous!!
I think my superpower would be that I can deal with my daughter's illness and still make it through each day. She's been sick since she was 15mo (she's 8yo now) and we've been through two strokes, dialysis, illnesses, hospitalizations, transplant and rejection. I just face every day with a new outlook and deal with it on a case-by-case basis.
Thanks so much for the chance to win this and remember that EVERYONE has a superpower.

Have always loved the gorgeous necklaces at SuperHero! Such colors together should have their own adjective!
My superpower would definately be problem-solving. I don't recall ever having come across a problem I couldn't solve. Of course, I don't presume to think my solutions are always the best and my probs aren't presidential in scope, but I have confidence that if they were, I could solve them too. SO maybe confidence to handle what life throws my way is a better description of my superpower. My very favorite part of it is when I am stumped, I can totally relax by thinking "I have figured out bigger/worse/harder things than this, so I will get this one too." Tonya

I have a great sense of humor, and love to make people laugh, which is also why I think I'm really good with kids. Two superpowers!
Great topic!

Love the necklaces! Especially Grass and Sky. Such a fresh color combo. And color is my super power. With just 5 acrylic paint bottles [red, blue, yellow, white and black} I can make and/or match any color in the universe. this saves me a ton of $$ to use for other supplies I can't make!
btw - absolutley love your nursery and yellow heart layout.
