Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Tags:Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

This is definitely a hard one. I have three daughters and my oldest one wrote a report for school one year about her hero, her mom, "ME". That gave me all I needed to continue to have superpower for all my girls.

I think ALL mom's are superheros - they just don't know it. I am a single mom of two boys and an elementary teacher. I am proud that my boys have almost made it to college (18,17)and I try to inspire all my students (my boys too) that education is key. Thanks for sharing the Superhero information.

I'm a diplomatic person. Always willing to try and understand where someone is coming from. I know everyone has a story beyond what I may be seeing at that moment.

I'm a supermom because I singly parent 2 special needs children. My ds also has autism! I feel kinda weird saying that b/c i don't want to inflate my life much! You do what needs to be done b/c you love them! I found this quote yesterday:
''Never think that God's delays are God's denials. Hold on; hold fast; hold out. PATIENCE is genius.''

Hi Ali,
Wow, wondertwin powers activate! I think (after reading Brene's blog) that my superpower is being mum. I love to be a mum to my little guy (who is, impossibly, almost five!) and a wife to my husband. I also love to talk to people with a past (you know, a long past senior citizens) and I think I might be pretty good at it.
Thanks for the chance to win...I took a look at Andrea's blog yesterday and, wow, what a talent

I am so excited because I do have a superpower...I can pick out books for other people that they like...it is a real power.
My husband thinks that I am the biggest dork ever, but I love reading a book and thinking about the people I know would love reading this book and then passing it on to them or gifting their own copy!

my superpower is the ability to makes friends super easy-I never meet a stranger! This gift I inherited from my Mom and it has served me well thru the years-from going from a Catholic Elementary School to Jr. High only knowing 3 people, on to college, joining the Army to nursing school to meeting new moms, friends at Church and now meeting new people at my daughter's school. This gift was made VERY evident to me when in college (the first time around) I pretty much flunked out d/t bad grades-I was having fun with all my friends-and I said something about being stupid in front of my younger brother-who was the complete opposite-very introverted but EXTREMELY intelligent-and he said "but Jena you can TALK to people and I'd rather be able to do that then be so smart"-that sure made me do a lot of thinking and soul searching and he was right-I am VERY thankful for this gift!

I've never even considered that I have a superhero power before! Perhaps it is efficiency. Which sometimes drives my family the teeniest bit crazy.

I have to build relationships with a lot of different people, with various interests for my job. I have to say, not only do I enjoy it... but I think I'm pretty good at it! I make a mean lasagna too!
Thanks for making me stop and think about this.

My super power is my ability to be postive and stay calm in the most difficult situations. I pride myself on not yelling. Well, I guess I yell sometimes. But, it is mostly private, usually in my car at another driver who clearly doesn't understand the rules of the road...

I love reading Andrea's blog. She has inspired me for years through it. Love Ben too. My superpower is that I have been a neonatal nurse for 26 years and I work in one of the biggest, best Childrens Hospitals in the US. We have a 67 bed unit. It's a great job, often very sad but often happy. I have seen a lot of babies become angels and I have seen a lot go home that we never thought would. We are not just taking care of the babies, we give care to the parents also. Its a rewarding job to see such strong people everyday. Lately I have been pretty burned out, wondering how much longer I can do this ( I am 45 yrs old) but writing this helped me realize that I am a superhero to babies (some less that 1 lb).

I've always been a fan of Andrea's work, her necklaces are beautiful. I've adored her Superhero pendant for quite some time now. :)
My superpower is being able to through a party together with very little time or resources. I love celebrating. Whether it's a bday, a new job, a task accomplished, whatever the reason, it's always a good time to celebrate and be together with friends and family.

So pretty! My super power is the ability to say, "No!" I learned not to spread myself too thin because I've seen others do it and have done it to myself too.
