Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Tags:Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

Gorgeous jewelry! My superpower is to love fully even when there is no hope of that love being returned.

My superpower is organization. I guess that makes my planner (yes I still prefer paper) my magic wand or something like that. My other superpower is endurance. Through long-distance running or throughout life.
Love, love, love the superpower necklaces!

My superpower is multi-tasking. If I didn't do 2-3 things at a time, I would be even further behind than I am on most things. I can unload a dishwasher, talk on the phone and supervise homework at all at the same time.

According to one of my daughters, I'm a superhero mom. She asks me for advice nearly every single day and if someone asks her how she learned to do a particular thing, she will always say "from my mom"!
The wonderful thing about this is that I am now 70 and my daughter is 47 and she still considers me her best friend. I am honored to be loved by this woman.
Love this necklace!

I have superpowers when it comes to doing the dishes--at least that's what my husband tells me. He says I do a much better job as he wanders out of the room, lol.

I LOVE these necklaces. I have oogled them for quite sometime.
My superpower is to calm my hysterical daughter in a few seconds. She tends to over-react frequently, and I have the ability to calm her like no one else can in a matter of minutes. No small feat.

My superpower is the ability to adapt. I lead a busy life and nothing ever seems to go as planned so being able to adapt and go with the flow is important.

My superpower would be my ability to try and see the goodness in everyone. While it's not always easy, I do try. And I try to pass that superpower on to my children.
Thanks Ali:)

I never thought about having a superpower. I think if I had to pick something it would be that I have an inhome daycare. I take care of children from 3monthes to 5 years. So that in its self is super, to me its just what I do. Secretly I love it since my own babies are so grown up.

Hi Ali
as professional writer and trainer i am good at making difficult subjects into words and examples, so that people get it (it is hard to explain in English, hope you get the message).
Loved the yellow heart and all the best for giving birth to the little girl!

I think my superhero power would be making people feel good about themselves. I am a hairstylist and I always strive to make people look and feel good about themselves.

I can load a Suburban with everything needed for a 3 week vacation, including the 3 kids, so that you can't even get a sheet of paper between things in the back! My dad taught me how to load a trunk...it's like 3D Tetris.

Ok, so my first thought was organizing. I am good at that. Then, I thought of the fact that I am a wife of a man in Iraq right now taking care of a 4 year old son while about to list my home for sale and am going to be doing the move on our own. I am blessed to have my parents here to help and could do none of this without God of course! Truly he helps me with my super powers and I am nothing without him. ;)

Ali,
I am a superpower when it comes to making "something - out of nothing." I like to take ordinary things and turn them into art. When I sewed a lot my friends said I would literally get "drunk" when i went into a fabric store, because I would touch a fabric and a sensation would go right to my brian and I KNEW what I could make from that fabric. It works at the paper store too! Heck! It works at Starbucks! This is my superpower!

My personal superpower is being able to do all the things I want (work, play with my daughter, travel, , read, and most importantly craft, etc.) and still feel like I'm not overloaded.

Most of my life, I didn't like my body... too fat, hair too thin, skin red and bumpy with acne until it changed~to Acne Rosacia! After conceiving my first child, growing him safely in my body to full term and then feeding him the perfect food from my body, I had a new respect for this vessel I call "me"~I have a superpower!

Well, we had a funny conversation about this last night when we were watching a Seinfeld episode and there was a reference to Elaine's new boyfriend having super powers and his super power was having no money! So, yes we made jokes that was our super power too...
A little more seriously though- I think my superpower is the ability to multi-task very well. I think that comes from many years of having to do it while working, college and being a single mom.
