Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Tags:Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

Oooooh, I love her stuff! Such an exciting giveaway! :)
I often don't think of myself as very super, so this is a good exercise. I've had to think a bit. I think I would say I'm proud that people think of me as a laid-back, relaxed person who is able to be calm under pressure.

Great necklaces! Um, my superpower for today is listening. I have a dear friend struggling through an awful situation and right now what she needs more than anything is someone to listen to her words and hear her heart.

i believe that my superpower is my intuition. i'd like to say i have had great intuition growing up, and it helped tremendously during my teen & college years.
thanks, ali & andrea!

My super power? This is a hard one Ali... I feel like one of them might be my ability to sleep like a pretzel when my two cats sleep on my side of the bed (and for some reason not my husbands... ever!) Haha. :-)

Wow a day to 'toot our own horns'...awesome! Okay, I am going to say my superpowers are making people enjoy themselves with laughter. I have a quick sense of humor, people often say, and I *love* when the house or wherever I am is filled with real, feel-good, laughter! Here's to all of us super people today! :)

OH MY GOSH!!!! I have been coveting a superhero necklace for 3 years now! I think they are amazing!! May be this is my chance.
pickmepickmepickmepickme!!
Anyway - this is a great topic. All to often we forget about how special we all are in our owns ways becuase we are busy being wives, moms, fiends, workers, (dads, brother, etc.) and taking care of the others in out lives.
I think my superhero power is the ability to listen. I seem to be able to put anyone at ease - be is my daughter, a stressed friend, a co-worker - people come to me to to talk out issues and them leave comfoted and calm.

I need superpowers daily -- I must have some because at the end of the day I'm thankful we are all in one piece. I've recently moved to Montreal from the states -- not an easy task with a 14 year old daughter, an 11 year old son with special needs, a neurotic labrador and of course my husband. My greatest superpower though involves our son. While the path is not easy, and I wouldn't wish it upon just anyone -- he brings me great super powers and at the end of the day he still says I love you, even if he knows I'm tired and frustrated.

My superpower is baking cookies. It doesn't sound too huge, but the guys at the fire station where my hubby volunteers sure think so :)

I love the necklaces - they are gorgeous, and eclectic, and fun. I love it!
I think my superpower would be my desire to learn. I'm always trying something new - new recipes, new kind of craft, organizing the house a certain way, etc... all in the name of becoming more well-rounded and liking what I'm doing even better.

Tough question. Other than reading faster than anyone I know, I suppose my superpower may be the ability to keep our house full of boys running reasonably well. Someone has to pay the bills, know who has to be at what practice and when, who has a science project due, and where the lost shin guards are. But in the end, it's all worth it.
Love the jewelry as well as your blog, Ali! I have been scrapbooking forever, but why has it never occurred to be that not every page has to be the same size?!!

My superpower is the ability to get things done in the midst of crisis. Something just kicks in and I'm able to drown out all distractions, remain calm and focus on the goal.
That necklace would make me a more stylish crisis superhero though... :)

I've been pretty down on myself lately but I think that my superpower is perseverance. I do not and will not give up. Even faced with some scary psychological/social issues facing my precious 5 year old, I will not give up until I find out what is going on and how to best help him. In fact, I think his school is a little scared of my superpowers!

My superpower is being an implicated mom. I love my 3 boys and my life truly revolves around them. I manage their hockey teams so that I can plan special events for them....so I guess superpower is organisation of events and activities.
This is a very pretty piece of jewellery...I will definetly be checking her blog...thank you!

I have superpowers in the kitchen! I have people who make special requests for items and people who are always asking for cooking advice and I love to help out. Cooking and baking calms me and I love nothing more then to spend time in the kitchen so good thing I'm good at it :)
