Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Tags:Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

I would say my superpower would be my optimistic outlook in life. I try to see the good in everything and make the best of every situation.
Beautiful necklaces, thank you.

My superpower is spreading love...to all that I come in contact with, that might need a bit. Whether it be a little one at my boy's school, who doesn't get enough...or a stranger...or a creature...I send them good deep magical love! If I can't do it by touch or in person, I do a job with my heart, and send along the energy from that, to that person, in my mind. That's my super power... Sounds pretty out there, but I decided to hit send and not worry about that part!

I think my superpower is ability to adapt with last minute changes. Like my husband just called me 5 minutes ago to tell me that he has to fly out to Chicago to take care of a work crisis and I would have to handle the kids, house and everthing else by myself for the next 3 days. No sweat.

I love Andrea's blog and her necklaces! They're gorgeous!
My superpower: being able to bounce back from a bad day, bad feelings, yucky stuff, and be happy, bouncy, and lovely, especially to help those I care about feel better about life!

Wow - she has beautiful necklaces! My superpower is the ability to tell the people in my life that I love them - via cards, messages, and just plain telling them. I've worked on this over time. :)

I keep checking throughout each day, to see if Baby A has arrived. You continue to be in my thoughts and prayers, Edwards family.
It's probably been said several times, but around here my superpower is the ability to find anything and everything. My specialty is finding things that are absolutely hidden to everyone else, even though they are in very plain sight (i.e. the tube of Neosporin that was "nowhere", yet when I opened the first drawer, it was sitting right on top.) This power continually amazes me on SO many levels.

I would say my superpower is creating my own recipes. I seem to always use a recipe as a basis, but then I add my own ingredients to it, making it my own.
And, luckily, they always turn out even better than expected! :)

I think my superpower is that I can pretty much learn crafts/skills with little instruction and mostly visual patience. And I have a pretty broad craft skill set. Meaning I papercraft, bead/PMC/jewelry make, sew. I enjoy sharing this POWER by making gifts or was just thinking of you items for friends and family.
This has been extremely helpful to me after being laid off from my job that I would have been at for 19 years this Feb, since started college. It has helped to distract me from negative thoughts of self, wondering what I did to make me so disposable. And given me the time to reflect and see I am worthy an it's their loss.

these are beautiful! my superpower is being like glue! I hold it all together, my home, my family, my friends and anything else that comes our way. We sail through lifes with bumps and hiccups here and there - but with a husband and 3 boys - I think our life is pretty smooth sailing!

I think I would call my superpower 'calming'. I'm a typical pisces in that I prefer to avoid conflict. So I'm always the peacemaker, soother, go-between.
This would make a great scrap page in my 'me' book. Thanks for the idea!

I am really good at pretending to be a good sport when my 4-year old continuously whoops me at every board game! That boy can Yahtzee on demand and I suppress my competitiveness with superhero hoorays!

I am shepherding a beautiful, precious, strong-willed 15 year old daughter while she navigates the tricky maze of adolescence. My superpowers include encouragement, firmness and the ability to find out if she is up to something. :)

This is my first time commenting and I am so excited. My superhero power would be in getting students in Middle School that cannot read very well and teaching them to read. I have been told that I have a special way of bonding with them and they turn out loving to read and doing so amazingly we..

I love this post. It's great to read about other's superpowers. I'd have to say my superpower is organizing. While I'm not always on top of my own life, I can go into chatic situations and bring them to order. I've helped more than one person back and dejunk.

My superpower is being frugal, and it's made such a difference for our family in so many areas of our lives (financially, spiritually and environmentally). I shall toss no sandwich baggie before its time! :-)

I can “see” and “pet” invisible ladybugs, tiny kittens, and frogs she keeps in her pockets. I have super strength hearing in the late p.m. or early a.m. (especially if it includes the word “potty”).I can transform, with my super-mommy eyes, the letters of her name or anything she tells me she has drawn in a series on scribbles, doodles, and illegible marks. I can, with a kiss and the miracle healing power of a single adhesive strip, make 99 percent of ouchies go away. That other 1 percent is the super power of actual doctors. I can bench-press 35 pounds with no weight training whatsoever and can climb an entire staircase slowly and silently, with said sleeping 35 pounds (yet I whimper with five-pound ankle weights if I’m Tae-bo-ing — what’s up with that?). I am a supermommy!!
