Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Tags:Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

Great idea for a contest. It is so fun to read all of the comments. With all of these superheroes among us - anything is possible.
My super power is finding or creating the perfect meaningful gift for someone. It is my favorite thing to do. I love the whole process - the planning, finding, creating and especially the giving part - there's nothing else like it.

I love them!!
My superpower is to have survived the last 14 years as a military wife through 8 deployments and countless "close calls", and 9 moves. We just finished our most recent 16 month deployment and this was the one that I finally could pat myself on the back and say I am strong enough to make it through!

How did you know I needed this today? My son, Ben and I had a rough day yesterday. I woke up with serious guilt this morning. What has happened to the wise, calm mom I want to be?
So, I've already won a prize today. In thinking about how I could possibly be a superhero, I've remembered that I'm good at lots of things. Including and most importantly at being a mom. And even superheros have bad day sometimes... Thanks Ali.

My super power is using bandaids to make boo-boos go away. From a hang nail to a bloody mess, a little band aid helps stop they crying and makes little boys feel all better.

my superpower? being a supportive wife. my husband's work has moved us away (and further away) from family, but if i didn't give him a 100% "let's do it", he may have settled not take the chance to live his dream. that makes me feel like a superhero!

I have to post a little story about my necklace (you will have so many posts that this might not even get read, but I don't care). I got my necklace in December. "Joy" In January it was like all joy was stripped from my life. I went through a difficult depression, that lasted a year. Everyday I put on my superhero necklace and wished and prayed for my joy to return. I would hold my necklace, and stare at the beads. My joy did return. It took awhile, but it did. I love that my necklace has it's own story to go along with it.
I've been dreaming about getting another one. Huge thank you to Andrea for being so generous!

How funny to try and come up with a personal superpower. I started to move on, but you've got me thinking. I am not a person who does anything considered extraordinary in any way. I'm crafter and have been fairly good at each one I've done, I've travelled alot, but still have much to see, I'm a good Mom, but always want to be even better, blah, blah, blah. So after running through my very ordinary list I did come up with something I've been good at. I can get people out of a jam...as in: my dinner is ruined and the guests are due in 20 minutes, this scrap page is missing one thing, I need to have a tag sale, I need to host a benefit, I have no money but need a gift, my child needs.. (say no more), and so on. I'm a superhero if you're in a jam. Otherwise, no special talents. What fun to rescue someone now and then, though.

I am super good at being objective! I have an easy time looking for the best in people, and even when they have hurt me or someone else, I always consider what their intention was before I get angry. If the intention was not to be harmful, and the execution was just lacking, I am very forgiving and loving...even if someone is hurtful, I am forgiving. It does wonders for my own living, and hopefully helps my friends out there when we talk about things.

Well, I just started homeschooling my girls and when I asked them what I was good at they said teacher, photography, and scrapbooking. I'm going with teacher today since it's feels so great to hear that they think I'm doing a good job.
