Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Tags:Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

My superpower is that I can always make people laugh when they're sad or angry, usually by doing something stupid to release the tension.

I sometimes come up with pretty awesome gift ideas. I don't like giving gifts out of obligation, but I love gifting perfect, just because gifts.

Hi Ali,
I put this question to my three adult children and was at first surprised by their replies...Tetris, scrapbooking, and no-bake cookies. Not the deep, thoughtful answers I was expecting! Then my eldest summed it up that my superpower is my ability to organize, see the big picture and put it all together, all the things necessary for tetris, scraping and making cookies. I'll take that!

I notice small details about other people and sincerely compliment them on it! Be it a stranger in the grocery store or my bestest friend.
Seeing the huge smile is always worthwhile to just pay attention to others during my day.

Hi Ali,
My "superpower" is just sometimes making it through the days while trying to overcome an illness and survive and thrive in this "beautiful mess" we call life.
Thanks,
Stacy
I love the beaded necklace. How beautiful and a day and mood brightener for sure.

I don't why it is so hard to say something good about ourselves, but this has been a thought provoking exercise for me. Thanks for asking this question!
My superpower is the ability to nurture and love the people around me, especially when they are hurting. I may supply a listening ear, a warm hug, good food or all of the above. That is what I'm best at and that is what makes me happy.

This task brought tears to my eyes. As I thought what is my superhero power...then it hit me I have the ability to change to meet the individual needs of loved ones, friends, and people I meet on a daily basis. I can be the super tough mom that can dive for that fly ball and not cry when I get hit with the baseball, because as my son says there is no crying in baseball (he said that I could cry though after I got 9 stitches and because I was a girl) I can paint toes, curl hair, and sing Hannah Montana songs with my daughter. I can lie in bed and cuddle with my toddler and watch the stars on her ceiling. I can lie in bed with my husband and plan the week and assure him that all the bills are paid, the house is clean, his laundry was picked up. I am a different person for each person in my life and each loves and needs me for different reasons. I can morph into anything!

I love my superhero power of "Mama"... It is the most AMAZING superpower that is given to every mother... There is something so amazing about being someones "mama". A Mama can get things done faster and smoother with less tears than anyone else...
I have to say that I LOVE her picture... Lime Green would be my signature color... I would wear it every day it I could find enough clothese in it... I am known for lime green - it is something that makes me happy...

My superhero power is being able to accomplish almost any part of our family's morning routine while brushing my teeth. Pouring cereal for the kids, getting on my pants, feeding the dog. I have mastered almost any activity while brushing, except maybe curling my hair.

BEAUTIFUL necklace!! WOW! My superpower is singing. I can hear a song once and remember the tune and the words, and belt it out, clear as day! Unfortunately, I don't forget them either and sometimes it can get a little noisy in my little brain...LOL.

Superhero power #1
Speaking my truth.
It isn't always fun,
it is sometimes dangerous,
but frequently rewarding.
It is a calling,
like any real superpower.
Truth is power.
And "With great power comes great responsibility" (Stan Lee, Spiderman)

I'm the kitchen fairy! I plan the meals. Shop for the groceries. Cook the meals and best of all I wash all of the dishes and pots and pans by hand because we don't have a dishwasher. When I'm all done in the kitchen for the night I turn out the light and happily annouce that the kitchen fairy has come. My family LOVES the kitchen fairy!
Do you suppose they think it's me?
