Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Tags:Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

My super power is my smile! It makes every and any situation change. I've seen others' faces light up, when my slightly crooked, chipped pearlies start beaming. It makes my children laugh, and my husband grateful. It keeps me from taking life too seriously, even when it would be excused. My smile, my super power, invites complete strangers to be comfortable, and honestly, makes the world a better place : )

Those are beautiful necklaces...a couple particularly caught my eye.
My super power....I would say it is multi-tasking and keeping calm under pressure.

I'm an emotional person. Share with me your fondest memories, happy or sad and I will feel everything that you feel right along with you. Sometimes it isn't a fun quality to have, but most of the time I love it.

Love this...I think everyone has a superpower - it is just a matter of finding it. I have two. I can break any sort of technical gadget. I can't help it, and it frustrates me. I've been in software development for the past 14 years, so it comes in handy to uncover bugs in the system.
My other superpower is that I can find almost anything. Lucky me, I can balance out my other power by finding the solution. Usually, the "finding" superpower manifests itself in finding other people's stuff though. My favourite story is when a neighbor called me to find her son's beloved blanket...they had been looking all day. Sure enough, I came over and found the precious item!

My superpower is stick-to-it-ness. I'm 41 years old and started law school last year because I always said I would. I didn't want to cop out on a promise I'd made to myself! It's a really tough studying load, but because I've stuck with the my study plan and not slacked off, I am now in the top 1% of my class -- hooray for me!
I also took 3 years to knit a sweater, but I didn't quit and now it's finally completed. My husband laughs but thinks that shows good stick-to-it-ness, too. :)

I love the necklaces!
I am superhero at organizing. If you set something down in front of me, I will have it sorted, categorized, labeled and color coded by the time you return. Lol.

My superpower comes into play first thing in the morning. When the kids have all been fed and they are playing happily together, I do one little job each day - like clean the kitchen sink, clear out the fridge, change the beds etc. It's great because I'm on top of the day before it's really started.

I think raising 4 kids, all ages 6 and under, to be good, strong, Christian people is something I'm proud of. It's not an easy task! But it's oh so rewarding. :)

My superpower is creating something interesting for dinner out of random things in the fridge and pantry - my husband will say we have nothing to eat, and then, voila! a healthy meal for the family appears. Thanks Andrea and Ali, for the lovely giveaway!

My superhero power is to be an encourager and a giver. I don't want to sound uppity, but I am a giver. I do not receive well and when I am in need, it is hard for me to be a receiver. I would much rather give to someone who needs a little something... be it a kind word, a meal during a stressful time or an anonymous gift. Recently my Mother in law passed away and it was very hard for me to 'accept' condolences, food, offers, etc. It is just me. It is who I am. I love to give. Thanks for your blog and prayers for the next few weeks. CindyML

Hmmm...
My teenage son calls me the Tyrant Queen - maybe keeping those boys in order is a superpower! But I think that my true superpower is found in the classroom. I love to connect with my little grade three students, to draw them out, to share the world with them, and to love them.

Two of my super powers are organization and an indescribable love for orphans. So much that we are in the process of adopting from Ethiopia. Through this my power of organization has come in very handy. All the paperwork and appointments have gone very smooth.
I love COLOR! Thanks for the chance to win one of her necklaces. They are awesome. Btw, I loved your yellow post from yesterday. Very inspiring!
