Tags:• This super sweet heart mobile from Pottery Barn kids. This could totally be made on your own using some cute red/pink/white fabric (or use up some of your paper stash). You could cut out your own hearts or use this new scalloped heart punch from Fiskars or the Giga Scalloped Heart Punch from Marvy.
If you don't want to make a circle mobile you could also just string some on ribbon and hang them from the ceiling. I started punching out some hearts last week and am thinking about making some simple hanging hearts that could attach to the light fixture in our dining room for a simple Valentine decoration.
I am also considering doing a fabric one with some scraps I have in my stash if I have time (or making some of the pins that I link to below).
• The Office of the Tooth Fairy (via Oh Happy Day) kits or recording the loss of those precious little teeth. I ordered this and received it in the mail on Friday - it is super sweet with great design. Simon currently still has all his baby teeth so I am keeping this in a safe spot for later use.
• Hula's list : she always has the best ideas.
• Karen Russell's A Year In The Making class kit. Seriously awesome use of slide page protectors.
• Completely love these little Valentine heart pins (and the tutorial on how to put them together) found at The Purl Bee.
• Delighted by Kristybee's photos on Flickr. I am especially into one's like this.
Thanks to those of you who recommended I pick up The Pillars of the Earth
again after my 16 Things post. I plowed through all 900+ pages over the last couple of weeks and finished it up yesterday. Definitely a good one.
Chris and I started watching the HBO John Adams series this weekend so I am thinking about reading one of Abagail Adam's biographies next.
And finally, I got started working on a little hybrid-baby book this past week. I am keeping it simple and hope to share some of my ideas on that later this week depending on how things go. The focus is on reflections and creating a space to jot down thougths as we find our way through those first few weeks.

Hi Ali,
Hope you're doing well - can't wait for the baby's arrival :-) Thanks for always inspiring me and having such cool links and ideas! My baby Sophie is 5 months old so I'm excited to see your baby album/book idea. I bought two books to write in (questions and such already in them) but I want to do something unique. Now, finding time is another issue entirely ;-)
Take care,

Congratulations on conquering Pillars of the Earth. It took me a month to finish, but the story always keep me going. Now I can't decide if I'm going to read the sequel.

Ali,
I wanted to share with you a simple thing I did that turned out to be so special. I bought one of those blank scrap-it-yourself 13-month calendars, and I wrote down all of the special little things my daughter did during her first year. I didn't always write something every day and sometimes I had to go back and fill in some things when I got behind, but now I have pretty much a daily record of her first year, from the month she was born through her first birthday, which is October 23. In fact, I even cheated a little, because the last thing I wrote in it was "Barack Obama Elected President!" It was so simple to keep up with, I just kept it hanging on a wall in her room and ran to write down whenever she hit a milestone or did something cute. I haven't scrapped it yet, but I probably will in the future. With your love for documentation, I thought you might like that idea.

Oh my goodness, Ali. I just read Pillars of the Earth on recommendation from my dad a couple of months ago. Right now I've moved on to World Without End and it's another book I cannot put down. Another long one. Check it out!
Lovely inspiration!

I didn't realize you can cut fabric with punches.
Does the fabric need to be a thin cotton?
Susan
PS. Love the heart mobile.

Susan - I don't think you can cut fabric with punches. I was suggesting using it for patterned paper for a different twist on a project.

Saw the John Adams series a while back - was really interested in it since I had read the book. Really humbling to see what the men and women went through to bring about the Freedom we now enjoy. Abigail Adams rocked -wanting to read her bio too.

I was absolutely in LOVE with the John Adams miniseries -- we bought it on DVD, too. Fantastic acting, just a riveting time in our country's history.

My hubby and I were just talking about how we haven't seen the series yet. Definitely going to go pick it up. Abigail Adams is amazing. I love the letters between her and John. Inspiring!

Are you going to make a little brag book for Simon to take to school for when "baby A" arrives? Just an idea while you're nesting. When she is born just print a few pictures to put in the book for him to show off.
Enjoy your time of rest right now (as much as you can comfortably).

Ali,
I wish i could sew when I see things like this heart mobile! I know it would be easy but still won't attempt it. Now PAPER, might be an option!
Wanted to share with you two things. The first was what the commentor before me, Rachel Smith, said so I won't repeat it. I had a 13 month calendar as well and it helped. I also used it to track feedings and changes in those early weeks.
The second that is a little less cumbersome was to keep a tiny hallmark purse calendar with me to track little things I might miss -- dr appt info, special "firsts" and things like that on the run. I'm sure you already have a way to track these things but this one worked for me and still does into the older years as well!
Getting anxious for your arrival and wish you well!
