Wednesday Sponsor Giveaway: Freehand Scraps, Big Picture Scrapbooking, + Paper & Co. Show
First, I want to pass along a thought for today that I came across on my friend Alex's blog about courage & leaps:
What I realized is that there is not just one big moment of courage in
our lives. There are many. These moments come to us in different ways.
At times we are forced into a leap (unexpected pregnancy, when parents
or partners pass away, when we loose our job). At times we are called
into a leap (when someone invites us for a trip of a lifetime, when our
partner wants to move to a new city, when we are offered a chance, when
we take the "money maker" role to support our family). Then there are
also the daily tiny leaps we take for the sake of adventure (when we
try new types of food, music, when we go out on a date, when we talk to
a stranger, when we transition from blogger friends to real life
friends). No matter how small, silly or hard, tiny, dramatic or
forgotten... All leaps are important because little by little, we live
through change, we figure out how to cope, we move forward, we learn
who we are, and we build our confidence for the bigger leaps, the ones
we seek for ourselves.
Maybe someone else out there needed to hear this today too...
And now, three cool midweek sponsor giveaways are on tap for today:
• One person will receive a February Kit from Freehand Scraps.
• Two people will receive passes to Stacy Julian's fantastic online Library of Memories class at Big Picture Scrapbooking. Focused on getting your scrapbook albums in working order and organizing your photos (in a very "you-centered" way), I highly recommend the class and/or Stacy's book Photo Freedom. Class begins February 12th and runs for 16 weeks. This class is only offered once a year.
• One person will receive 4 classes for the Paper & Co. event in Italy on March 27, 28, and 29 (giveaway does not include travel, accommodations, or food for the event). You can check out a list of the classes here. Italy sure sounds good to me right about now :).
To be included in the drawing today please leave a comment below and share your most recent "leap" or act of courage. Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winners posted shortly after.
I would also like to take a minute to welcome and thank my newest blog sponsors:
Digital Birdhouse : digital scrapbook products
Scarlet Lime : monthly kit club
The Paper Pixie : paper embellishments
The Digital Scrapbook Teacher : photoshop tutorials and classes for hybrid + digital scrapbooking
Lettergirls : delightful hand-created address stamps

I have leaped back into college this semester. Working toward a nurse practitioner degree. My hubby is in the car business, well everyone knows how stable that has been. This might just be a blessing in disguise :o)

My biggest recent leap of courage has been learning to step away from my regular somewhat shy demeanor to be my son's voice. I am very tolerant, and I have a high threshold for pain and annoyance when it comes to my own body, so I'm a pretty easy patient when it comes to medical stuff. But when my son was born 3 1/2 months early, I had to leap away from that thinking and find the courage to be his advocate.
Thanks for the great giveaways and for making me remember that I do have courage :)

My most recent leap was cutting ties of a toxic relationship. It wasn't easy to do but much needed. So, it may be a little lonely but it's peaceful! Sher B.

My biggest leap lately was 2 weeks ago I joined a women's study group. I knew no one at all and have jumped in wholeheartedly.
So glad I did too!

My biggest, most recent leap was buying our first home. We close the end of March. It was a long, nerve racking process but I am so glad that we did it!

My biggest thing of courage that I have taken lately is deciding to become catholic along with my family. It is something I am enjoying and learning so much about the religion but it isn't just a one day thing it is month and months of classes to learn and then finally I will be baptised Easter.

I would have to say that I am forced into a leap right now. My oldest child is almost thirteen & is leaping right into adulthood. As a mother, it is probably one of the hardest things because, although I want her to grow & become independent, I also want her to still need me & to keep her with me. She's a wonderful daughter & I know this is a 'leap' in the path of life. I am also realizing that we will NEVER go back to a 'simpler' time. From here, we only can move forward and I find myself missing those younger days.

Some inspiring reads! Mine would have to be getting back into the gym, realizing that in some cases I have to put myself first-which in the long run will benefit my family. But for now, Im doing it for me!

Wow!! Those are some incredible prizes. I really want to take Stacey J's class, but haven't had the extra $$. And I can just see me telling DH, we have to go to Italy no--LOL (don't know how well that would go over :) )
My recent leap was going back to work this year after four years as a SAHM. It's been a rough adjustment, and I miss being with my kiddos like crazy, but it is very rewarding being back in the classroom again.

My biggest act of courage for the day was going to the dentist to get a crown...and not the shiny put it on your head kind of crown LOl. I have a dentist phobia even though I have a great dentist but I was brave & got it done. :)

My leap was to speak at my father-in-law's funeral in December. I knew he had to be commemorated and I knew my husband couldn't do it. I leaped over a lot of self doubt to do that and I'm so happy I did.

Wow Ali, the giveaway sounds great. I'm not huge into big leaps, but I am always thankful for the little things that go right every day! Whether I'm leaping or crawling.

I had to take a leap not to continue with an adoption process we started. I wanted this so badly, but it wasn't going to work for our family. We were only in the paperwork process of it, so a referral for a child was a ways off. Giving up that dream, letting go of it, was a leap for me. Trusting that this was the right thing to do. Very hard though.

YES! I needed to read this today. I may even borrow it for my journal later. My biggest leap of courage recently, was a HUGE one for me. I've been homeschooling my two oldest for the last three years. I have two toddlers at home - it has been so hard to try and give the older girls the attention I really feel they need. I don't want them to get behind because of all the distractions...anyway - I finally spoke to my husband about it and we are going to be making some changes. I was really afraid that I would be seen as a failure, but realized I did not care about that as much as making sure my girls had what was best for them. Phew.
Thanks so much!!
Sherry

I love Scarlet Lime Kits!!!
My most recent leap of faith was to submit my work for a challenge blog. That was scary. I won with my first submission, but it took a big push to get me going the first time.

My latest leap - isn't a big one - but it is for me - I recently pursued a guy that I'm interested in - and received positive responses! This is something I don't usually do. So it was a little but yet BIG leap for me.
My most recent BIG leap was taking a year off of work last year to collect my thoughts. It was definitely worth it and made quite a difference in my work and personal lives.
So inspirational to read everyone else's leaps. Great job everyone!
