Wednesday Sponsor Giveaway: Freehand Scraps, Big Picture Scrapbooking, + Paper & Co. Show

First, I want to pass along a thought for today that I came across on my friend Alex's blog about courage & leaps:

What I realized is that there is not just one big moment of courage in
our lives. There are many. These moments come to us in different ways.
At times we are forced into a leap (unexpected pregnancy, when parents
or partners pass away, when we loose our job). At times we are called
into a leap (when someone invites us for a trip of a lifetime, when our
partner wants to move to a new city, when we are offered a chance, when
we take the "money maker" role to support our family). Then there are
also the daily tiny leaps we take for the sake of adventure (when we
try new types of food, music, when we go out on a date, when we talk to
a stranger, when we transition from blogger friends to real life
friends). No matter how small, silly or hard, tiny, dramatic or
forgotten... All leaps are important because little by little, we live
through change, we figure out how to cope, we move forward, we learn
who we are, and we build our confidence for the bigger leaps, the ones
we seek for ourselves.

Maybe someone else out there needed to hear this today too...

And now, three cool midweek sponsor giveaways are on tap for today:

2

• One person will receive a February Kit from Freehand Scraps.

Lom5
Stacyj

• Two people will receive passes to Stacy Julian's fantastic online Library of Memories class at Big Picture Scrapbooking. Focused on getting your scrapbook albums in working order and organizing your photos (in a very "you-centered" way), I highly recommend the class and/or Stacy's book Photo Freedom. Class begins February 12th and runs for 16 weeks. This class is only offered once a year.

BANNER PACS

• One person will receive 4 classes for the Paper & Co. event in Italy on March 27, 28, and 29 (giveaway does not include travel, accommodations, or food for the event). You can check out a list of the classes here. Italy sure sounds good to me right about now :).

To be included in the drawing today please leave a comment below and share your most recent "leap" or act of courage. Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winners posted shortly after.

Great post from your friend Alex!
I am currently working on a leap of faith regarding my husbands location in the Air Force. We may as a family be relocated, relocated out of the country or my husband relocated out of the country alone for a year. I am working through this for SO many reasons! With 4 children, one only 2 years old, it would be devestating for him to leave for that amount of time.
I constantly remind myself that families are faced with these issues everyday. Strength and courage are paramount in insuring our children are confident in whatever outcome we may be faced with.

The latest leap for me was calling up a lady who recently started going to our church and asking her out to lunch. I am pretty shy with this kind of thing - so it was a really big deal for me. We're going out tomorrow and I can't wait!

My most recent leap was stepping up to an exercise program. I need to get back in shape, for me and for my family. It hurts, I feel awkward but it's what this girl has to do.

We helped and encouraged our son to stand up to his 8th grade social studies teacher as he was teaching his one-sided opinion as fact. ~Tanya (Thanks for the GREAT give-aways)

Oh, I would LOVE Stacy's class!
We are in the midst of a possible leap. My husband has gone back to college. He is looking to change careers soon. We have lived in the same state for over 20 years. We are sending out resumes to many other states. Scary and exciting!

My leap of courage was to take a stand for myself and my feelings. I quit my job since I felt I was not being appreciated and will finish my Counseling degree. It will not be easy but it will be do able and in the future we will receive the rewards of our hard work.

I guess my biggest leap lately was bringing my little girl into the world. She is such a blessing, but in this climate it is somewhat scary. I wish we could return to the good 'ole days of banana seat bikes, tube socks, and the innocence that used to be my America. I still love this country..but sometimes I worry.

Largest leap of faith is being there for my best friend during her birth last week. She has no one, so I was there for her. She now has a beautiful baby girl.

Your excerp from the blog was just what I needed...my biggest leap is in encouraging my husband to follow his dream and possibly quit his job and move to another city. My tiny leap was to get down & dance with my little girl to some slammin' 80's music.

A recent big leap for me is becoming a certified Zumba instructor. This is the newst gropu fitness craze sweeping the US. It incorporates latin dance into a cardio workout. It doesn't even feel like exercise. Response has been amazing...average class attendance 3x a week is 100 participants!

My big leap is being willing to move away from my family and friends to go somewhere new so that my husband can pursue his dreams. We haven't actually made the leap yet, but I know it's coming, and it's taken me a while to even be willing to do it.

My most recent leap of courage was more like a jump. I jumped up in front of these two ferocious cats who were about to attack my indoor cat who got out of the house when the garage door was left open. I heard a loud weird "meow" sound and my heart just started beating. There it was, my cat was cornered by these two cats. I didn't even think about it, I ran there and carried my cat away from these two cats. I knew my cat was very scared. I'm so happy they did not touch an inch of her off her.

thank you so much for this quote, it was something I really needed to hear today as I had been looking at all the big leaps I need to make and feeling overwhelmed. my first small leap that I intend to take today is to say no to a friend that I really care for, so that I can take better care of me

You know those team building exercises where you fall backwards and trust the people there will catch you? I'm the one who usually does all the catching.
After a very difficult 2008, I decided that in 2009, I will let others do the catching.. so I can really enjoy the great , too short moments in life that I'm too busy to appreciate.
This is a very uncomfortable process for me and I have almost daily arguments with myself about doing more. My solution: little notes all over that say:
    SMILE
    BREATHE
    GO SLOWLY
