Sunday Happiness: Eric Carle on The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Tags:Around here we are big fans of Eric Carle's books - especially his classic The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Loved finding this little video gem online today where he talks a bit about the book and his creative process as he celebrates the release ofThe Very Hungry Caterpillar 40th Anniversary Pop-Up Book.
Someday I would love to visit his museum in Amherst. He even has a blog :).
I love Sundays.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING! As a mom and a teacher I am so excited! I live in Florida, but are going home to Rhode Island in July for our annual 4th of JUly family reunion. This will make an awesome addition to the memories that will be shared. Thanks Ali!

I just LOVE how he said in the video, "I love Color" he reminded me of a young child when he said that. A great reminder of what art is really all about.

Hi Ali, thankyou for sharing!
I am studying to be a primary school teacher in Australia (final year this year...bliss!!). The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a favourite book of mine and i love using it in the classroom.
One thing that I have come across at a craft show (that i instantly fell in love with and it was one of those things i HAD to have, lol) was Hungry Caterpillar fabric and panelling with pictures straight from the book, it is beautiful.
Here is a link for pictures of the fabric!

He is such a sweet man. As a college student, I had to write a paper on him. I sent an email to his website asking for information and in return, Eric Carle personally sent me a packet of posters, postcards, and brochures about his book. I still have them today.

OH my!!! I remember taking my oldest child to meet him at a little independent book store in Tulsa, OK---probably 14 years ago. I still have every book he signed---my daughter insisted on bringing in every book she had by him (which was a lot) and he graciously signed each one---thanks so much for sharing this special video!!

Hi Ali,
I just pulled up Google.com and they are featuring an Eric Carle design for their logo! There's also a cute little article about him: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/books/5021384/Google-celebrates-Eric-Carles-Very-Hungry-Caterpillar.html
Thanks for bringing me back to a great childhood memory.
