Sweet Peach
Tags:Our little sweet peach fancy pants.
I love how nicknames tend to take on a life of their own. Peach. Sweet peach. Fancy pants. And then of course you have to string some of them all together. So many different terms of endearment - some stick and some fade over time (thankfully).
I am pretty sure I captured some of Simon's nicknames ("Simon-bug" & "bugga bugga" were early favorites) but would need to go back through his albums to see how many I really documented. Those are the little things that we lose way too quickly if they don't get written down.
Anna's doing great. She's gaining weight (almost 7 pounds now) and being awake a bit more. I am feeling better and more confident in general. Finding my way once again through the maze that is baby-ness.
My sister-in-law Liz was here this past weekend. There is nothing quite like having very helpful people around - especially ones who are excellent cooks and who have a special way with infants. Liz is amazing. We love her and are so glad she was able to visit.
I think I finally decided on a direction to take on a 12x12 scrapbook for Anna. I am working on and documenting in the "Reflections" book but am starting to envision what will go into her first larger album. I'll share more on that in the coming weeks as it begins to come together.

Oh, so sweet!! That is the best picture. I can almost smell that wonderful baby smell! LOL I just LOVE snuggly, cuddly, squishy newborns. Our granddaughters just didn't stay in that stage long. They were both in such a hurry to be up and about, exploring the big world. That's not a bad thing--just doesn't allow much time to enjoy them as infants. I don't remember my own children being in nearly as big a hurry to become explorers. Enjoy!!

It's amazing how big she has gotten in such a short period of time. So adorable.
My husband is a great inventor of nicknames and to this day many of them have "stuck" to my kids (they are in college). The nicknames always "keep them as mine, my babies" no matter how old they get. I just love that!

funny, mine growing up was wrongway peachfuzz & we definitely still laugh about that one. the best was how my toddler daughter made up nicknames for my son. my favorite was Peter penguinhead, but i do have a list to scrap - her made up ones are the most fleeting.

It's amazing our kids ever learned their names, considering how much we used nicknames, especially with the girls! My husband definitely never uses real names ... I can probably count on my two hands how many times he's even said MY name to me! But it's fun and a great thing to document. Somewhere I have a list of about 10 names for my now 2-year-old that I need to find and get scrapbooked. Thanks for the prompt!! And Anna just keeps getting cuter and cuter - the nicknames that are following her are so appropriate!

sigh...so cute! Some days I really want those cuddley, wiggley, baby days back -- so funny, but why is it that when its in the midst of happening you just wish they would end cause you're so tired!!?!?
reading your post reminds my how much I love the internet/blogging community --- your post introduced me to four beautiful new blogs that I had never stumbled on....I love that idea of the book from Molly Irwin's site. her words resonated with me because I have pictures like that on my hard drive. saved because I love them, but just sitting there, waiting, but alone they are just beautiful pictures. how powerful to put them together and see an emerging story. I feel some serious creating coming on after reading her post....something I have been struggling with all winter.
thanks again for inspiring + have a great week with "the kids" :)

My youngest daughter was nicknamed Bear before she was a month old. She is still Hallie Bear to all her friends and family and she is 24. I grew up with a big extended family and new babies came along every year. Everybody had a nickname. My aunts used to tell us that when a baby was kicking and cooing, the baby was telling you what the angels told them. When the angels kissed them before they were sent home to live, the kiss took away thier words. The baby could only speak angel and when they learned how to talk they forgot angel speak. I loved that when I was a little girl.
