I love cutting up plastic milk jugs and tin cans to make embellishments/letters. I also love the clearance section at my favorite craft stores, and shop out side the scrap book area, like in jewelry and art. There is a whole big world of scrapping supplies, if you look outside the box.

My favorite scrapbook tip is to buy inexpensive cloth diapers - usually 3 to a pack and keep one over your shoulder (a natural for us moms)as you work with messy things like paint, ink, mod podge, etc. A spray bottle of water with a small drop of dish washing liquid helps with messier messes.
The diapers are made for lots of washings. When you're done, just toss in the washer. I don't mind them becoming colored (mine nave bright blues, reds, and oranges that seem to stand out the most), but if you want them to stay white, they also stand up to bleach well.

    I reduce, reuse, recycle!!
I used a milk jug in my December Daily. There is a part of the jug that is "flat" with the exception of an indented circle. I spray painted it. Used a circle punch to punch a letter, and put it in the indented hole. Then I used Friskers "Threading Water" punch to give the edge a decorative look.
I have cut out pieces of wrapping paper to embellish an album. I've covered the piece I've cut with glossy accents to stabilize it.
I use cardboard boxes (cereal, pop tart, cracker, macaroni etc.) to trace a shape- bird, flower, tree etc. Then I can decorate the cardboard.
I love using my girls old clothes! I photographed my daughter wearing a shirt that says "adore me" all over it. I'm going to cut that out of the shirt and add it to a layout.

Hi,I would love to go to Atlanta. My two daughters are going and I could meet there. My husband even said he would drive me there. Wow!! I guess my tip for frugal would be that I like to make scrapbook pages for my grandchildren instead of buying them cards for their birthdays.

I like to be Frugal by using packaging for things on my pages. A good stiff cardboard makes perfect chipboard.
**Please don't include me on the trip**
    Thanks :-)

    Frugal tips? YAY!
when old clothes are ready to get rid of, if they are too bad to go to charity, I cut off buttons, zippers, collars, trims, etc... They are GREAT for scrap pages!
left over coffee is a great "stain" if you need to distress something but dont have the right inks on hand. (I keep a babyfood jar in the fridge with some stout instant coffee!)
Coffee filters make gorgeous elements when punched or cut down. TRY IT!

Since times are tight and money short I now "go thru" ALL of my stash,, we all have bins and baskets and drawers FULL of stuff and if we are all a little honest we will all admit that the things that get used are the things closest to the top... These days i seem to be spending what money i do have for scrapbooking, on tools and things that will never go "out of style"... And speaking of,,, if you dig to the bottom of that over-stuffed drawer you will find things that were in style,,, back when you bought them,, that are now back !! Kind of like a mini skirt!
I have found things I forgot I even had! I can't even beign to tell you how much money this has saved me the last few months...
Ali, I would not be able to go to Atl. but thanks for the chance to win other goodies!!

I guess my frugel tip would be, focus on improving your photography. If your photos are gorgous, they don't need much embellishing. Of course, I need lots of work in this area!

I use recycled items from packaging, gift bags, clothing tags for embellishments on my pages. The packaging these days is so beautiful - shame to throw it away!

I make my own embellishments. I use bought ones and trace the shapes, then cut out my own.

I could definitely attend the scrap etc. event. I live right outside of Atlanta, so no travel for me either!!! I WOULD LOVE TO GOOOOO!!!
My tip would be to just get creative. Force yourself to use your stash, and you might even come up with some great techniques that you would have missed out on if you purchased store-bought embellishment.

I wish I could go to GA, but alas, it is not feasible!
My frugal tip is to re-purpose packaging - more and more the packaging is half the appeal of the product!

try to use every last square millimeter of paper by doing cards or other LOs with your scraps. I don't really use "themed" paper so I can use the same papers on multiple LOs. And I do my cards right after I have scrapped a bunch of LOs (they make great gifts! my friends love getting a card set)

In each layout try to use one item from your scrapbooking stash that you wouldn't normally use. I find this stretches my creativity, plus it forces me to use MOST of the items I have purchased. I waste less and spend less.

Sometimes it’s hard to be frugal with all the wonderful products available on monthly basis. Lately, I have challenged myself to put together layouts without purchasing any new materials, not even the tiniest thing. The outcome has been really surprising because you look at your materials in a new way. So, I guess my tip for frugal scrapbooking would be to once in a while look through and organize your materials, you might have forgotten you had “this or that” which can be used on a new layout…saving you $$$.
*I would be available to travel to Atlanta, GA...

Count me in for a chance to go Atlanta!! Wow!
I save tons of scraps of paper to use on layouts later. My tip is to go ahead and cut them with a large circle and square punch (those I use the most). They take up less space to store and you can grab them and get busy!

I like to reuse the packaging from my supplies (plastic coverings, cardboard backings, etc.) on my layouts. I'll cut out or punch shapes from them, just like chipboard.

Hello, my frugal scrapbook tip is to really cut down on my adhesive use. I know when I first started, I glued everything down as if it were going to be thrown from an airplane :) Yes, I would LOVE to attend the classes in Georgia. Please include me in the drawing. My husband and I could use a little golf/scrapbooking getaway :)
