Mine would be making my own mini album by cutting out 4" x4" squares from cardboard instead of buying chipboard albums! I line them with patterned paper, embellish and put a ring through after punching holes to achieve the same album effect, albeit a thinner one!

For my frugal tip I have been using more of the packaging. A lot of times they coordinate already w /the supplies and give you that much more to use as accents. PS I would love a chance to attend the scrap etc event.

My frugal tip is to only print the pictures that you plan to scrap. I make sure all the others are backed up (twice! - I have two different external hard drives), but I only print the ones I'll scrap.

My frugal tip: You can buy plain brads in your local office store by asking for brass fasteners. Not as many options for sizes, but much cheaper.

The first thing that I tell new scrappers, or myself every time I sit down to crop, is don't stress about it! I use to sit and agonize over each element on every page. It's suppose to be fun! Have fun, enjoy remembering the memories, and don't stress out!

I love to "collect" supplies... so instead of shopping all the time--I "shop" online! I go to all my favorite sites to browse and fill up my shopping cart. BUT I DON'T BUY! All the fun of shopping without the bill.

My frugal tip is to always look in the scrap box first. I have two scrap boxes, one for patterned paper and one for solids. This is the first place I look if I am making a card and I can always come up with something. It saves me a ton of money on paper.

My frugal tip came about the other day when I needed some 'confetti' for the middle of a supersized flower.
Out came the good ol' regular sized paper punch & I found loads of 'corners' 'cut off strips' that had been trimmed for other projects & I punched away! Instant color & I got every bit of use out the leftover papers! P.S. the middle of the flower looked awesome!

I am all about saving money. I buy make-up wedges at the dollar store and use them for painting, inking, chalking, they work great for getting into the small areas because of their shape. Sometimes I even cut them in half or in thirds so they work even better on small items. If they can be washed out and reused, I do so, otherwise I throw them away. One pack goes a long way. I have a lot of ways to save money, this is one of my favorites.
I would definately go to Atlanta if I won, I'm within driving distance. Thanks for all the great giveaways.

My frugal tip is to look through paper scraps first, before cutting into whole pieces of patterned paper or cardstock. Not only do I save money, but I save a few trees too.

My tip would be: use the plastic packaging! I just did the other day by making a front and back cover for a ski-minibook for my sister.

As for a frugal tip, recently I've tried to find ways to reuse some scrap packaging. If products come with the semi-flexible plastic cover, it's great to punch or cut out shapes from!

My tip would be to use what you have instead of just shopping for more and more stuff that you'll never really need. And try to keep up, if you can't do that then keep a journal everyday, just jot down what you did so you can reference it and have the memories to write in your scrapbook. It works for those of "us" who can't remember things well anymore at 37. LOL

love the antique paper bundle and the collage sheets...hmm, frugal scrapbooking... I store reasonably small pieces of paper by color in cups/containers that stack... that way I don't waste space and don't cut into a new piece of paper for an accent

a frugal scrap tip would be to look at that scrap embellishment packaging in a new way... so many of the packages can be re-used in quite stylish and fun ways. you are re-cycling and crafting at the same time!! a good thing.

i scrapbook 8 1/2 x 11, so i usually that 1 inch portion of my paper off. i save that paper in a little stack in use if for strips and lately and have been using it for scallops!
i would not be able to go that weekend...even though it sounds super fun!

The thing that really helps me stay frugal scrapbooking-wise is to purge often. Seems strange, but to go through older supplies and get rid of some actually makes the remainder all that more easy to use.

This is a tip that goes back to Creating Keepsakes, circa 1997! Save alphabet sticker sheets. When you run out of a letter, cut out the outline of the letter to use on your layouts.
Can't attend Scrap Etc event. I was thinking I would make the very long drive down, but it wouldn't work at all with my work schedule. What an amazing prize for the winner!

My neighbor and I share scraps and coupons to stores for scrapbooking supplies. I also re-purpose common things I get in the mail like flyers, magazines, etc.

My frugal tip is scrap digitally. Most of the time, you have the hardware & software just waiting to be used! The computer skills you learn can be valuable to you in other areas of your life, too, making it a win/win situation!
