Simplify 101 • one person will receive a spot in the online workshop Organize Your Paper Clutter with Aby Garvey

Paper, paper everywhere! That paper mountain growing on your countertop
represents a loss of freedom, a loss of control, and a nagging feeling
in your gut that something important isn’t getting attended to. Your
paper, and the feelings it creates, makes it hard to relax, focus or
even have fun.

Here’s
the good news: there is a better way! With the right paper organizing
systems in place—those created with you, your paper, and your home in
mind—you can free yourself from paper clutter and the stress that comes
along with it. In Organize Your Paper Clutter, you’ll learn a
step-by-step process on how to decide if you need a piece of paper (and
for how long!) and how to organize it so you’ll find it again right
when you need it! Your piles (and your stress!) will be replaced by
organizing systems you love, and feelings of confidence, relief and
peace of mind!

Start date: Tuesday, April 21, 2009
End date: Tuesday, June 9, 2009
Registration status:  open!

The Year of Living Biblically by AJ Jacobs. It's a great easy read and very entertaining. It's non-fiction, but reads like a daily journal so it's easy to read in bursts.

Right now my favorite books are "My Weird School" books. My 8 year old son is just loving to read them and laughs out loud as he reads them. So during this week of his Spring Break--they are my favorite since they make him so happy. I love to see him reading to himself on the couch.

"The Secret History of the Pink Carnation" by Lauren Willig. It's book 1 of a series (although you don't have to read the previous books to enjoy each individually). This is only of my favorite books of all time. I read half of it sitting on the B&N floor (in the middle of an aisle, no less) because I couldn't put it down long enough to buy it. :) Great book, and her website is awesome as well.

"The Shack" encouraged me, especially by personifying the Trinity.

My favorite book of all time is Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. It began the complete reshaping of my world view and made me realize that reading can truly be fun!

I loved Life is Good - first chapter is jarring, but it's an amazing story. Co-written by a grandson of slaves who learned to read in his 90's. http://www.amazon.com/Life-So-Good-George-Dawson/dp/0141001682/ref=pd_bbs_5?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1238591804&sr=8-5

I think I would have to name a favorite genre and that would be the "classics." I just finished Emma by Jane Austen last night; but my very favorite book that I can read over and over again from one week to the next is Jane Eyre--romance, mystery and suspence--LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!

I recommend any Philippa Gregory book. I have read almost all of her books and have found the ones focusing on royalty to be the best. A few titles are The Other Boleyn Girl, The Other Queen, The Constant Princess, and The Queen's Fool.

Of course, the Twilight series is at the top of my list - just finishing up Book 4 as I write this! One of my all time favorite books, though, that I read a long time ago and often go back to is The Shellseekers by Rosamunde Pilcher. It is an oldie, but tops my list! It's just a really good, mindless read that gives off good visuals in your head to follow!

the secret life of bees...and I have one that I can't remember the name of. It has simon in the name and is a story about a young man and his relationship with his mother. It sits on my bookshelf (at home, and I'm at work)and every so often I read it to remind myself of what is important in life.

Oh my gosh...this is a hard pick. A book I have read a million times is A Midsummer's Night Dream by William Shakespeare, even though it technically is a play. I love the rhythm of the words, the comedy and of course, the romance.
But to choose one favorite book is like saying which of your kids do you like better...impossible, right? From grade school I love reading Judy Blume and Beverly Cleary. As I got little older my books got a little deeper such as "The Life of Pi" and "Special Topics in Calamity Physics". Also as I've gotten older, I realize my free time should be about enjoying myself so I indulge in "fun" books like Marion Keyes "Sushi for Beginners" or Jennifer Crusie "Welcome to Temptation".

Working outside the home full time, a 7 year old and a 2 year old are enough things to keep me from sitting down to read a book. The moment I sid down, I fall asleep!!! LOL My recent purchase was "confessions of a shopaholic" but I haven't started it yet.

Snowflower and the Secret Fan is the 1st of many faves to come to mind. It's such a heartfelt story about life for a female in China during that era as well as the complexities of friendship and love in all eras. Children's book fave is Owl Moon. I love the memories of my DH & DD mimicking the story with their own owling adventures.
