Wednesday Sponsor Giveaway : Get It Scrapped, Transparent Touches, & Blue Moon Scrapbooking
Get It Scrapped is giving away one spot in Pattie Knox's "More Mad Digital Skillz" online workshop.
Pattie Knox’s favorite part of digital scrapbooking is learning new techniques for creating realistic--as in “I can’t believe that’s not paper!”--layouts. In “More Mad Digital Skillz,” you’ll learn how to create torn edges on your photos and papers, how to insert photos into type, Pattie’s method for digital dry embossing, and much more about making your own brushes, working with custom shapes, and creating depth and interest with texture. Each lesson is accompanied by beautiful digital products from the talented artists at Designer Digitals—including Ali Edwards! Class starts May 25th at Get It Scrapped!

Carrying with me a small notebook with each kid's name on it; jotting stuff down I want to remember as it happened; I can't rely on my memory to get it right or to capture what I really want.

I've found that writing a blog has really gotten my stories written down. I just started and it makes me happy to get the emotions and story written right away. Than I know I can go back and get the 'feeling' of the story when I do the scrapbook page.

write it as soon as it happens if you can! always keep a little notebook (cheap spirals work great!) handy to make it easier!

My tip is to always read it out loud after you are done, or have somebody else read it out loud to you to make sure it has the tone and feeling you were looking for before commiting it to the page or whatever you are working on. Thanks Ali!

I get a calendar each year to write down important facts, milestones, funny sayings, events, etc. for my family. That way I jot down things to remember on the date they happen and when I go back to match up pictures and journaling I have it all together - a mini diary in a way.

I think when I am writing about a story, I try to make sure I cover the emotion I was feeling when i took the shot----proud, loving, silly, whatever it be. How were you feeling when you took the picture? I also think when I print the shot what I missed----tell the story behind the photo is always good for me. Just started using Blue Moon----love them, really nice people!

I try to write as if I am telling my best friend the story for the first time. It helps take the fear of actually putting it down on paper.

As soon as I think of something that I want to say in my journaling, I write it down immediately before I forget. Before I actually put my journaling down on the page I write it out in a notebook first to see how it reads & if I want to add or delete something.

My biggest tip would be to make the place that you write easily accessible. Make it as easy as possible on yourself or you won't want to do it. Keep a notebook (or your computer) some pens and pencils, fun journaling tags, together. All of the things you would use all in one place makes is so much easier on yourself.

I keep small notebooks in strategic places to write things down as they come to me or after they happen. One in my purse, diaper bag, car, downstairs and upstairs. I like to be able to jot down what I'm thinking at the moment and not wait or I am sure to forget! I have also become pretty diligent about recording the date and time along with my note. I'm sure a lot of people do this, but, it's a great way to keep the memories in tact before sitting down to scrapbook.

I am not the best at journaling I tend to let the pictures tell the story - but I try to get the jist of things when I do the page, otherwise I never get back to it!

because i scrap a lot of kiddie pages of grandchildren...i have found that asking them questions and using their answers makes for some delightful journaling on the pages i create! questions and answers can be too funny, too cute, and they enjoy reading their answers from previous occasions.. and it is fun to see their personalities shine through!

I've tried many different things, but the most tried and true in my book is: JUST DO IT. If I feel like writing a small novel, or a letter to the subject, or just a bulleted list of the 5 W's, I JUST DO IT.
(Oh, and special thanks to Nike for the slogan!)

My favorite tip is from you - journaling like you are talking. Don't worry if they arent' complete sentences. If you write like how you think in your head, your journaling will always come from the heart.

I love writing in an "article" format, like you would read in the paper...with humor. I once wrote on a page about my cutting off her hair like an arrest report. I laugh every time I read it.

I write up a Word or text file of the who, what, when, where and details about the conversation, emotions, etc and store it by date in a folder on my computer.

I journal best when I write as if it was a conversation I was having with someone.

I once thought to use my young niece's recently written poem about Christmas on a Christmas layout as the journaling a few years back and loved the result of including a bit of her on the layout about her and her sisters. Anything kids have written is so special and gives a little window into their world at that time.

Don't put off journaling. The sooner you put words with the pics the more your emotions come through.
Finger crossed for Blue Moon. It looks grrrrreat !!
