Wednesday Sponsor Giveaway : Get It Scrapped, Transparent Touches, & Blue Moon Scrapbooking
Get It Scrapped is giving away one spot in Pattie Knox's "More Mad Digital Skillz" online workshop.
Pattie Knox’s favorite part of digital scrapbooking is learning new techniques for creating realistic--as in “I can’t believe that’s not paper!”--layouts. In “More Mad Digital Skillz,” you’ll learn how to create torn edges on your photos and papers, how to insert photos into type, Pattie’s method for digital dry embossing, and much more about making your own brushes, working with custom shapes, and creating depth and interest with texture. Each lesson is accompanied by beautiful digital products from the talented artists at Designer Digitals—including Ali Edwards! Class starts May 25th at Get It Scrapped!
Transparent Touches & Tags (TTT) is giving away two different prizes this week. The first winner will get to
pick one of the monthly kits pictured on the slide show above. The
second winner will receive $20 in TTT transparencies of their choice.
Transparent Touches & Tags is one of the only monthly kit clubs that offers 3 kit choices each month. They have 3 and 6 month kit subscriptions available. TTT also creates transparencies to use for scrapbooking pages, cards and other projects.

If you sign up for 6 months, you will receive a fun goodie bag filled with scrapbooking products for FREE with your first kit. After you sign up, email Monica (info@transparenttouches.com) to let her know that you heard about TTT from this giveaway. Offer ends Wednesday, May 27th.

My tip is to journal when you do your page - don't wait to do it later. Your kids will probably love having journalling in Mom's handwriting later on. If you really don't like your handwriting, use a journalling spot and then if you find time later and want to go back and type it up you can.

For long trips, I bring a notepad and take notes of each day. I especially like to record funny comments the kids make or things that happen on our adventures.

Write from the heart and don't worry about your grammar. Sounds easy enough, right? And when that fails, find a journaling prompt sticker/stamp!

I struggle with journaling on my layouts so I just grab a pen and start jotting the "story", what I was thinking, etc. After that I read it over a couple of times and pare it down/edit info until I get something I am happy with.

Here's my tip: try having another member of the family tell a story instead to get a different perspective. Also you can have them do the actual writing on the page too.

My tip for journaling is to just sound like yourself. More important than just the who/what/where/when - is getting yourself into the pages, if not by getting yourself in a photo, than by writing from your heart. It doesn't have to be an English paper - perfect grammar not required! ;)
The TTT and Blue Moon prizes look amazing! (Well, so does the Digital Skillz one, but I'm not a digi girl.)
Thanks for the chance to win!

I write tid-bits (quoes and observations) on my big family calendar that is hanging in my kitchen and is in a central location. That way, I know when these things were said or thought of! I save all of my calendars.
Hope I win! It's by birthday!

Best journaling tip - just write it like you're talking out loud. I once did the 2-minute exercise with Stacy Julian and that was great too. Close your eyes and think about the story behind the photos for 2-minutes. Then write... just write. Great exercise, and I don't do it as often as I should.

small notebook and pen handy...date and time...what happen during the event. Then when I come home put it on word document. When I scrap certain pictures I look for the dates and what happen.

I try not to think too hard about it - just KISS (keep it simple, stupid). But my favorite thing to do is to do "bullets" of some shape and then some notes!

My tip is to have a journal with you ALWAYS, so you can write bits and pieces down.

I like to start with a direct quote from a person involved or from the event. (We seem to be a catch-phrase family...) This usually gets my thoughts moving as I remember the full story and it gives insight into the subject of the layout. I am working to try and include more sensory detail...but that usually works best when I have kept an honest to goodness paper journal, too. I do that when traveling and find my travel scrapbooks much better stories as a result.

It works best for me to free-write. Usually what I write first doesn't end up on my pages, but it helps me get to what I really want to express!
Journaling is very important to me.

Everytime something important happens, I try to type it - it only takes a couple of seconds and then I have it saved for whenever I get the chance to scrapbook. The only downfall to this system - back up often ! I have lost some pretty important/memorable stuff :(

I take most of my journaling from my blog. I write down most of the details of our day there so when I'm putting pages together later I reference it for inspiration!

ooooh..I especially love the kit from blue moon scrapbooking!!!!
My tip is to journal as if you were talking to that person. When i scrap my son or puppy, my journaling is as if im writing a letter to them, or telling the story to them.

Jot your thoughts down when it's fresh in your mind - don't wait till you're playing catch up 2 years from now. Trust me!

I try to keep a notebook close by so I can jot down things that happen. This helps me remember what I want to journal.
