Get
Crafty
is an online workshop led by Elise Blaha. Over two weeks, this class will explore
techniques on how to build mini books and layouts from the ground up.
We will break away from the traditional scrapbooking products and
design our own paper and embellishments. Each weekday, there will be a
lecture, a project, an idea to try that day and an idea to save for
future use. In addition, there will be photos, journaling prompts and
giveaways. Class starts on June 1st.
One person will receive the June kit from ReVa (click to see the full list of supplies). Read more about Rebecca on her personal blog here.

One person will receive the June Studio Calico kit called Soda Fountain.
One person will receive a camera strap and a lens bag in their choice of the fabric from *Shey*[B].
To be entered in today's drawing please leave a comment below sharing your best advice for a new scrapbooker. What did you wish someone had told you when you first started? Comments will close tonight at 8pm Pacific with the winner's posted shortly after.

You don't need to scrapbook every photo, and you don't have to scrap them in order, either! Just pick something you love and are inspired by and go, go, go. Every story you document is a story that might have gone untold. So, just be happy with what you do get done, don't lament how much you don't.

There is just so much STUFF out there. Do not get to caught up in all the stuff. Focus on the pictures and the story.

Buy your "staples" tools (trimmer, adhesives, corner rounder...) but don't jump on the first new tool available, try it first at your local scrapbook store, see if you will use it and then buy it!
I have a second one: Stay organized! Alot of the products (inks, stickles....Tombo markers) come with color charts, mark them down when you buy one and keep that in your purse to make sure you don't buy in doubles!

First, start scrapping the "present". Don't even think about all the old photos you have. Have fun. There is no right or wrong, just do whatever makes you happy. You'll soon be addicted but that's alright too!

My best advice for a new scrapper is scrap the stories you want to remember. Don't worry about doing things in order or just the events. Scrap whatever photos "speak" to you. You will likely never be able to scrap all your photos so don't stress over that. Just start by picking your favourite memories and go for it!

My best advice is to just go for it! Don't compare yourself to others and think that you work is inadequate...every page you do is a memory that is preserved forever, so just go for it! :)

I wish someone had told me you don't have to scrapbook every picture! And they don't have to be done in order. Scrapbook the pictures you love.

My advice is just to focus on scrapbooking a few pictures and stories at a time. You do not have to document every single picture you take.

1. Keep a scrapbook/inspiration journal jotting down memories from funny moments in the day to what the kids said/did to your thoughts and feelings (don't forget to date each journal). Feel free to add sketches or ads that may inspire you later.
Keep your journal and camera handy to capture everyday moments that are sometimes forgotten (not just for holidays and special occassions).
2. Date your pics. Your dated journal will come in handy when you're ready to scrap those pics.
3. Have fun! There is no wrong way to scrap. Your creativity is the perfect way. Soak in all the inspiration you want (from books, mags, blogs, forum galleries, etc.) but don't feel like you need to scrap a certain way or style. The longer you scrap, the more you will find your own style and become comfortable with your process.

The only rule of scrapbooking is that there are no rules. Have FUN! Don't Stress. Just Start. Don't scrapbook every picture. Don't go in order. Scrapbook the stories that move you. Its not about how many pages you can get done. Enjoy the process.

I would have liked to know a lot more about adhesives. I am putting a few older pages back together again. I also wish more people would step up and tell others not to scrap the original of a special photo. I have heard sob stories more than once while wandering through M's. It is heartbreaking!

I'm new to all this so I don't really have any advice to share, but I read all the comments and enjoyed picking up some great tips!

Don't worry about everybody else and all the STUFF out there; these are your memories, your stories. Record them as you remember them. It's about the stories and memories not the product.

My best advice is buy most of your supplies as you need them with a particular layout in mind. I have spent so much time organizing and collecting supplies. A lot of which I'll probably never use. It's fun to have a "stash" but I've found it can get out of hand very quickly :)

There is no right way to do things. Don't get hung up on "how" things should be and just start putting stuff together....

My advice? Use your own handwriting for journaling. I didn't in the beginning because I'm not crazy about my own handwriting, but I got over being so critical about it and just let it go. What better way to personalize something than having it contain your own written word!?!

Scrapbooking is an ongoing process and one that you will never be "caught up" with. Everyone has their own style...do what you're comfortable with.

My advice: not everything HAS to be in chronological order if you don't want it to be!
