Invest in a paper trimmer. Don't crop too much. Scraplifting is perfectly acceptable - learn from your peers! If you think colors go together, then that's good enough to use them. Tell your story any way you want. There is no wrong way to scrapbook.

best advice for a new scrapper? let all of your expectations go @ what your creative work should look like & just enjoy yourself. set yourself up to ENJOY, not feel like creating is a burden :)

Don't wait until you get all the "perfect" supplies and embellishments - you'll never catch up! Work with what you have, learn what you love, and add on little by little!

It is so tempting to buy the "new" things. I am so guilty of it. I guess my advise would be to stick to the basics, and don't buy anymore stuff unless you are out of the other stuff. It becomes overwhelming quickly!

A good advice would be to buy by project (at least at first), my taste has change so much since I first started scrapping that had I buy everything I liked back then, I'd probably be stuck with a lot of product to never be used. Besides, as you learn, you realize that certain tools are just not necesary or worth their price.

I think would be think twice before buying stuff, ask yourself do i really need that?

Just do it!
Don't worry about fancy or perfect or trendy or chronological or whatever. Even your first pages have a story to tell, both of whatever you've decided to scrap and your story as an artist and a scrapbooker.

Keep a journal or on a calendar make notes about what is happening as it happens- or the funny things your little person says. You're always SO SURE you'll remember those things, but they fade from memory all too quickly! Also- just do the pages- they don't have to be perfect- there will be some wow pages, but to tell your story there may be lots of pages that are mainly pictures without tons of embellishments!

My best advice for a new scrapper is to try all kinds of different techniques and styles until you find the one you like the best and feel most comfortable with. Put off major supply hoarding until you've got that figured out!

My best advice is to do all the challenges you can - look for challenges in blogs, sites, foruns. It's the best way to improve our skills.

Don't be afraid! Keep it simple, start small, and focus on telling the stories. Scrap for YOU!

You don't need everything under the sun to create a beautiful and memorable layout.

Just buy what you need for a particular project!!! Your style/taste as you become more experienced and you don't want to be stuck with 300 pieces of pattern paper that you will never use.....been there!!!!

The only person that you need to please is yourself...your pages don't have to look like everyone else's. As long as you are happy, then that is all that matters!

*don't get worked up about being "caught up"
*you don't have to scrap every photo you take...the rest will be great in a photo album
*explore non-traditional products; there is more to the art than stickers and cardstock...

My advice would be to not try to scrap every photo-and don't feel like you have to "start at the beginning" and scrap in order. Just scrap what you love and have fun!

I would tell a new scrapbooker to remember what it's all about - it doesn't matter who has the prettiest pages. Stop comparing yourself to others and remember that it's all about preserving your memories.

just play!! dont get worried about creating things you've seen other people do....buy the products that speak to you....have fun, create your own style and cherish the finished treasures :)

It's hard to get started when you're feeling overwhelmed. Don't try to scrapbook all your pictures. Be selective and enjoy working with the ones you feel tell the story best.

My best advice for a new scrapper would be to not get caught up in getting caught up. I think we can get overwhelmed easily because we feel we have to document every single moment.
