My best advice would be to focus on the photos and the story you are trying to tell, it is so easy to get lost in all the embellishment and equipment of this industry.

My advice would be to take as many pictures as you can, record a few notes about the moment in a little notebook (handy to keep in your purse or car), and have fun finding your style.

My advice to new scrapbookers is to NOT buy every supply in sight. I wish someone would've recommended kit clubs to me when I first started - they have a good mix of products that let you try different things until you figure out what you like/what your style is. I say: Buy you basic supplies first: trimmer, scissors, adhesive, ruler. The most important thing is to document your memories...not impress other people or get stressed because something isn't "perfect". HAVE FUN!

Inking, Inking, Inking! Why didn't anyone tell me about inking? My early pages would look so much better with a little ink!

My advice would be two things.. first, you need to find your own style. No one is going to scrap the same, and no one's style is "better" than someone else's. It's about getting the memories down. And second, you don't have to have EVERY single thing that scrap companies come out with. You can make beautiful pages with only a few basic supplies.

Don't go out and buy a bunch of "stuff". You only need a few basics to get started. Thanks for the chance to win.

My advice. Remember the stories. They are more important then the products that go in and out of style. The stories are what you will enjoy the most in the years to come.

My advice would be to start with a couple single photo layouts and tell a story of two that you want told. I spent too much time in the beginning worrying about fitting a ton of photos on one page, about layout and moving things around. I still prefer multi-photo layouts, but start simple.

Just start with your current photos and move forward. Don't worry about "catching up."

I wish someone told me about the cheap way to scrapbook,and also what the "must have" basic supplies you'd need.

My advice to newbies is PLAY! Don't be afraid to experiment coz that's the way you find your style/creative identity. Get the basic tools: paper, scissors, glue and let your creativity soar...

My advice is to focus on the fun,creativity, and preservation of memories. It doesn't have to be perfect, it's art. I wish somebody had told me NOT to cut all of my pictures into circles and ovals.

My advice to a starting scrapbooker would be never to compare your work with the work of others...! Don't sweat it and let your style develops itself. The pages I first made are light years away from what I do now and my style will probably change again!

My advice would be to start simply--a single photo layout, and avoid worrying about fitting lots on one page, etc. Start with a story you really want told, and feel free to use inspiration from other people's pages. That's how most people begin any creative project---painting, music, etc---imitiating as you learn and finding your own voice/style along the way.

Throw perfection out the window!!! It's about recording the story, not about perfectly, evenly spaced eyelets. (Actually, when I started scrapbooking, I don't think eyelets had been invented, yet! lol)

I wish someone had actually told me not to read magazines. I was striving to create things that weren't me. I was much happier in the early days of scrapbooking when it was just getting down the memories not keeping up with the jones.

my advice is to have fun with it! don't make it a "chore" or something you have to keep up with. make it something you're doing for you, to have you time. and use some of my stuff while you figure out what you like, don't just go buying everything! :)

Don't start from teh beginning but start from today. Also, start with kits instead of buying all supplies right away and have great adhesive.

just do it. you don't need a bunch of stuff to get going, the only thing you truly need to start is a good adhesive. and remember, this is about saving your families memories so don't stress about it being 'right' or 'perfect' or what's 'in style' and don't forget to have fun!

I wish someone would have told me that you don't need everything - just cardstock, a good writing tool and pictures is plenty to record your memories.
