advise for new scrapbookers,
-there is no wrong way to do this. if you love it then its good or pretty enough.
-buy what you need and use what you buy.
-do check out product review before buying an expensive tool.

I wish someone had told me you could make "event" albums for holidays, birthdays, vacations, etc. And not to focus on scrapping in date order.

Don't feel like you have to go in order or only work on one book at a time. I always love my pages more when I have been inspired to do the page and not forced myself to. Also, to use ring binders.... soooooooo much easier....

i wish someone had to me in the beginning to use non-permanent adhesives, as you may change your mind!

Just start, just do it!!! Sit down and create a page. Don't worry about where to start, how to organize everything, don't get overwhelmed with all you have to do. Just start with what inspires you and do it!!

My advice would be, scrapbook the present first. Don't worry about all that you haven't done yet, just get started!!

My best advice is less is more. You don't need more than good pictures, som nice paper scissors and pens to get started.

I wish I would have known that I would develop a personal scrapbooking style down the road-thus, I wish I would have refrained from buying products that I really do not enjoy now.
Take the time to explore what products you like BEFORE buying a ton of one thing!

My advice would be to tell your story. People who look at your scrapbooks want to read what you have to say. Don't get hung up on the "looks" part of scrapbooking- tell your stories.

My advice would be to KISS (keep it simple). Scrapbooking can be overwhelming so keeping it simple in the beginning, just a few supplies, find a place to get set up at home. Also I would suggest starting w/ your just snapped pics - the memories are fresh in your head and easier to document.

I wish somebody has told me to find my "style" first before I started buying them whenever I find scrapbook stuff on sale. I've also realized I don't like doing 12x12 lay-outs since I'm more of a mini-album type of scrapbooker.

Advice for a new scrapper with a shopping issue - only buy it if you love it and have some idea what you are going to do with it. If later the item doesn't meet this criteria .... it is okay to give it away.

journal!!!! Remember the stories and write them down...the pictures are nice but the stories behind them are so much more important!!!

Don't hoard the supplies you bought. Use them - if you start using them right away, then you will be less likely (in my opinion) to buy a bunch of supplies that you will never use.

wow! some really great advice for first time scrappers. i would have to ditto the chronological comment.....scrap photos you love and don't worry about the order....

When I first started, I wish someone told me to use my skills as a graphic designer to create (full or partial) digital layouts and use them alongside traditional scrapbooking materials/layouts. I practically smack my head and say "DUH! Why didn't I think of that!"

I wish someone would have told me it really is about the stories/memories and pictures...NOT the latest and greatest product

Tell your everyday stories and forget about trying to be perfect. Use a sketch to get started and consider taking a local class.
