is an online workshop led by Elise Blaha. Over two weeks, this class will explore
techniques on how to build mini books and layouts from the ground up.
We will break away from the traditional scrapbooking products and
design our own paper and embellishments. Each weekday, there will be a
lecture, a project, an idea to try that day and an idea to save for
future use. In addition, there will be photos, journaling prompts and
giveaways. Class starts on June 1st.
One person will receive the June kit from ReVa (click to see the full list of supplies). Read more about Rebecca on her personal blog here.

One person will receive the June Studio Calico kit called Soda Fountain.
One person will receive a camera strap and a lens bag in their choice of the fabric from *Shey*[B].
To be entered in today's drawing please leave a comment below sharing your best advice for a new scrapbooker. What did you wish someone had told you when you first started? Comments will close tonight at 8pm Pacific with the winner's posted shortly after.

My advice for a new scrapbooker would be to focus on the story and the pics. It is soooo easy to get caught up in all the products which are amazing. Try new things a little at a time and add to your stash. I think it is so easy to become overwhelmed by all the amazing products and ideas you can try.

that there is no set"way" to scrap. It is art, it is an expression of who you are and the way you feel. No one else will see it or feel it the same way you will.

When I started scrapbooking, someone told me to start scrapping what was happening in our lives right now, and don't worry too much about the past. That has stayed with me for a long time. Eventually, scrapping the past comes naturally, but I don't stress about trying to catch up. Scrap the now!

You don't need to accumulate "stuff" because in the end, less is always more.

This may even be advice I should follow more closely myself.... If you are documenting the pics and the details, that is the important thing. Do not get caught up on creating the "perfect" layout. JUST DO IT!!!

Scrapbooking doesn't have to be fancy or expensive. What makes a scrapbook page is a picture (or more), some paper, some good adhesive, and your heart.

My advice would be...just do it and have fun! Enjoy the process and the results will be that much more sweet. It doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful. Be proud of your story...it's one that matters.

mY advice to a new scrapbooker would be to take your photos that you want to scrap with you and only buy the supplies for that project. I find I have accumulated so much stuff that I haven't used.

My advice would be to start out with the basics and focus on photos and stories. Don't worry about having the "right" embellishment or "right" design. Scrapbooking is about sharing your story - the other stuff is just an added bonus.

My best advice would be to start simple. You only need pictures, adhesive and some cardstock to start. Find your style before you go and buy lots of stuff!

I would tell a new scrapper that you don't have to scrap every picture. Do not be intimidated by everything you see out there. There is no wrong way to scrap so just scrap what makes you happy. Tell your story and have fun.

When I first started scrapbooking I wish someone had told me to "embrace imperfection". I didn't get that advice until I had been scrapbooking for a while and attended one of your classes. Once I heard that I allowed myself to sit down and just jump right in. I didn't worry about sketching or measuring anymore- because I knew that if I made a mistake it was all going to be ok! Those two little words are always playing in my head- and not just when I scrapbook! Thanks, Ali!

My best advice would be to pay attention to the story behind the pictures. Don't get so caught up in creating the perfect page that you forget to make room to include the story on the page. I think the story is just as important as the pictures.

My advice is that you don't need to buy everything you see. Start basic and add to your supply as you progress. It's okay to cut your pictures. What you are doing to them will only enhance them.

My advice would be remember to scrap the simple everyday moments and not just the BIG events such as b.day parties, etc. I learned that from you Ali, and I think it is one of the most valuable lessons I learned over these past few years. :)

My advice is to scrap for yourself and your family. Do not worry what others may think or say. This is your life and it is a wonderful thing that you are telling the story. Never feel constrained to molds and look for inspiration all around you. And take lots and lots of photos!
Enjoy the process!

Oh I just adore that Studio Calico kit! What gorgeous stuff.
I think my best advise would be that there is no such thing as perfect, and comparing yourself to others is a colossal waste of time. Be true to yourself and you can't go wrong!
Thanks Ali, have a great day :)
