Signs of Summer
Tags:Our first CSA (community supported agriculture) farm share box from Groundworks Orgaincs came yesterday. Included in the box: red leaf lettuce, 2 cucumbers, carrots, basil, new potatoes, strawberries, sweet onions, sugar snap peas, and garlic whistles. To find a farm to support in your area check out Local Harvest.
The removal of long-sleeved shirts from Simon's closet (much to his chagrin). He is a big fan of "longs" as he calls them. After having a bunch of morning battles over which shirt he was going to wear ("I do not like short sleeve shirts" with a very mad face) we took all the long sleeve shirts out of his closet for the summer. The last couple of days have seen better behavior in the mornings as he adjusts to the choices he has available.
Flower baskets on the porch.
The countdown-to-summer school calendar (with green "x's" for "in green" days). Hard to believe he is almost done with First Grade.

Flip flops have begun appearing here and there in the usual spots we leave our shoes.

My own little vegetable + herb spot. We had a friend build some
raised beds for us in our backyard last month but I am waiting to use
them until we do a few other things back there (like have a patio put in and other landscaping stuff). I have always been a fan of container gardening and have done tomatoes in the past. Definitely excited to have our own stash of mint, parsley, rosemary, and cilantro.
Sun rompers & sun dresses (the girls clothes are really so much more fun...). Anna is one of those babies that runs really warm and as the temperatures heat up outside I am loving these cute options.
Grab your camera today and document some of the signs of summer around your house (or winter if you are in the Southern Hemisphere). Hoping to put this content together into a layout soon.

signs of summer around here as well. So strange that Lukas has a hard time transitioning to short sleeves as well? Seems like they have so many little things in common. i personally am a huge fan of hot weather, so that signs warm me inside and out :) BTW, could Anna look ANY cuter?? little girls chubby arms and legs in sun dresses just can't be beat!

OH, I love this idea of documenting the changes of the season. We switched to summer quite a while back (AZ hits 100 degrees in early May) but I think I could do something like this, if not now then for the fall.

great pics Ali! My 4 (almost 5) year old son also has a thing with the long sleeved shirts! I also need to move them out of the closet.

What a great post and pictures! Simon's dislike of seasonal clothing change is very familiar. My son refuses to wear long sleeves, even in the dead of winter. As he will wear jackets outside, I don't fight that.
Yesterday, it was raining, and he started looking for his winter coat. I thought we were in for a big fit and explained that it was warm outside and all he needed was an umbrella. He loved carrying the umbrella and was completely distracted from the need for his coat. What a relief!

Great idea of pics of the season. Anna is adorable and I understand the Simon situation (I have a little woman who is 6!) Love your green thumb as well, as I can't get anything to grow :(.
Regards,
Robin

Mmmm, that CSA stash looks delightful. And yes, flip-flops and container gardens are in full swing around here.

I love seeing pictures of your house. Everything sees so organized, and clutter free.
Three little girls sharing one closet at our house leads to a very full closet that drives me crazy.
Question, do all schools in OR get out so late? I'm in MN and our last day is today.
Enjoy the day. Great post. Wish I could find a CSA in our area.
