My favorite summer tradition is to visit the outdoor theater, The Muny, here in my home town St. Louis with my dad. Each year we would get season tickets and have a date night once a week in the summer.

My husband and I were both born on the 4th of July (same year, too), so definitely fireworks... fireworks bring back so many memories of soooo many birthdays. BUT! You can't have fireworks without watermelon! So... fireworks and watermelon! : )

i treasure my son's summer tradition.his father passed away when he was just barely three yrs. and obviously, that changed the course of our lives forever. that summer we both went to visit my late husbands family which meant so much to all of us.ever since then my son has gone to stay with them for a month over the summer.i am always so grateful that he has such a close relationship with them, it gives him a connection to his father that he so badly desires and needs and it also gives his family a connection to the son and brother that they loved so dearly and lost so suddenly. in fact, he left just 2 days ago to visit them for the month of july!

We always go to Hord's Station, near Campbellford, Ontario Canada. It's a farmers auction, and you can go an watch farmers bid on piggies, cows and the occasional horse. Outside, you can buy baby ducks, bunnies and funky looking chickens. After the auction, a group of women have a lunch prepared of cold sandwiches, hot burgers and home made pie. The building and kitchen is ancient, the exact same way it was when my Dad took me when I was little!

Going to the "vacation home", a.k.a., cottage. My son named it the vacation home as soon as he could speak and it has stuck. And why not? It is a home that we go to on vacation, right?
Well, we leave today for our first trip up to the vacation home (it is 8 hours north of where we live) and we are all just vibrating with excitement. It is SO amazing that for a family of four, we all agree that it is the best place on earth!

We have a tradition in my family of going to the same lake cabin for the past 25+ years! It isn't the best cabin/house, but it is where we have always gone. My whole family goes, and it is awesome to spend two weeks with them!
