Weekend canoe trip with friends I've known since high school, and that was a very very long time ago !
Living in Michigan I try to savor every minute of sunshine since our summers are short and winter seems never ending at times.
Happy summer to all !

One of our summer time traditions involves food and it is an on-going thing during the summer. We go to our local produce stand regularly and get purple hull peas, corn on the cob, okra and juicy tomatoes for what we call a summer supper. I fix my favorite old family cornbread recipe with it all. This may be a southern thing, but ya'll know how we like our food! Yummy Stuff!

Going to amusement parks and riding roller coasters! My kids are getting old enough to enjoy them too - it is so much fun!

There's something relaxing about summer that I don't find in the winter. So I guess it's chillin by the pool with the kids. It's magical!

My favorite thing about many past summers is our cross-country drive from Florida to New York (with a few stops along the way) and then up to Canada. I love getting out of the Florida heat and humidity into the kind of weather that summer is SUPPOSED to have. We get to visit a lot of family that we don't see all year and relax at a cottage on a lake once we get to Canada. We aren't making the trip this summer and I am missing it :(

What fantastic goodies!!!
My favorite summer tradition is just relaxing. This is probably my last summer without a j.o.b. and I am enjoying the freedom of no schedule. The kids and I hang out at the pool, get Sonic happy hour drinks when we leave and are home when Daddy gets off work.

My favorite summer tradition is a day at the amusement park. A whole day full of rides and candy and fun! The kids can run and scream and play all day and no one uses an "indoor" voice. Not to mention that the kids are out cold by 8pm! LOL

While I was growing up, my whole dad's side of the family gathered in Myrtle Beach, SC for a vacation. I have so many great memories from those vacations! This past year, after about 6 years of not being able to go, everyone gathered again. It was great to let my husband in on some of the nostalgia!

We have picnics that MUST include watermelon and ice pops. And of course a sprinkler is waiting near by for when we are all done eating!!

My favorite thing is lying in the cool grass after a hot 4th of July day and watching fireworks with my family on one of our old quilts. Love it all!

A favorite summer tradition is going to the beach in North Carolina to visit my Aunt and Uncle with my son. I use to visit my Aunt when I was young, and now my son and I visit. We have been going for 9 years now. Totally relaxing, totally refreshing, totally special.

Our favorite summer tradition is fresh corn on the cob. We have our own farm and pick it right before we eat it. so good. The boys love it. It all culminates on corn day when we pick all the corn and put it up for the winter. It takes all day but so worth it.

One summer tradition is going on a mini-vacation with ALL the family! My kids and husband, my parents, my sisters and their husbands, and ALL the nieces and nephews! I think we now total to over 30 people in all!! The kids absolutely LOVE being together, and it will give them great memories of their childhood growing up together.

One thing that has kind of become our tradition is that our family loves to swim every evening after dinner. It's not as hot outside, there are no worries about sunscreen, and it's so fun to see what kind of games my 10 year old will come up with to entertain us. I love that he's still young and innocent enough to enjoy hanging out with his parents, and to play in his carefree way. I love summer!
