we love going to the county fair every year. I love looking at the local crafts and food entries! We also have to stuff ourselves with "fair food."

Mostly we stay inside & stay cool (it's Texas!) but on the Fourth of July we go sit @ the edge of Lake Grapevine & watch the fireworks.

favorite summer tradition
probably the first week of july which is pretty much an all week party! It's my son's birthday and hubby's grandmas birthday on the 1st, dad's birthday on the second and then of course Independence Day on the 4th! We celebrate all week long!

We have a couple favorite summer traditions that I really enjoy. My SIL and I take our kids to the movies and try to see all the kid movies that come out in the summer. Our family also enjoys hanging out in the backyard in the evenings when the sun has went down and it is not so hot. We grab something cold to drink and sit on the patio and have good conversation.

We like to visit Galveston and Kemah often during the summer, especially now after Hurricane Ike, to give our support to the re-building of these areas.

My favorite Summer tradition is baking a vanilla cake for my niece's birthday each year in August. Not the best time to be baking, but it's her request each year and I can't say no!

Great giveaways. Favorite summer tradition--evening ice cream walks. Just ice cream from home and cheap cones, but walking around as a family makes it a special treat--and one that my husband remembers from when he was a kid.

Every year we always go to Cannon Beach in the summer. Usually around Labor Day. We started doing this when my husband and i were dating. 17 years ago. We continued doing this even after we had children. It's just something we always look forward too and have had so many fun times there.

For generations spanning about 60 years, my family on my dad's side as camped at a lake about 3 hours away from our house. Even though it isn't our most expensive vacation its definitely our best. I love knowing my kids (the 5th generation) love it as much as I do.
