I love the summer. With three little kids ages 5,3,2 we go to the beach and take a picnic lunch and enjoy the day. We mostly are outside with the blow-up pool, slip-n-slide (they don't know how to use it properly yet but they are trying) and waiting for the ice cream truck to come by the house. Love the summer in Chicago with the other festivals and neighborhood festivals, it is never a dull moment here in our household.

Love reading everyone's traditions. Can't wait to try some with my family.
One of our newest summer traditions is to buy a box of fireworks from the local stand and have our own Fourth of July show right in our own driveway. The kids think it's cool!

My favorite tradition in the summer is swimming in my parents pool with my son and now the new baby. We swim all day, BBQ at night and go home happy and tired! I also love going to Oswego's Harborfest every July to watch the fireworks! It's spectacular!

Every summer we go to the water park - we pack a picnic and spend the entire day in the water! My boys love it, and usually my nieces and nephews join us for the fun!

My favorite summer tradition is my Family Reunion up on Beaver Mountain in Beaver,Utah where my dad was born and raised. We enjoy camping, delicious dutch oven cooking, games and just sitting out in the meadow talking and taking in the beautiful scenery.

weekends spent hanging out in the water. When I was a kid it was at My Grandma's cabin. Now, it is at my brother's place!

We try and have lots of campfires in our backyard. The kids love helping to build the fire and of course, roasting lots of marshmallows.

Our summer traditions always include late grilled dinners with fantastic fresh salads made from a trip to the farmer's market! We have a screened-in porch out back that has a pond view, so the dining is relaxed and scenic! Listening to the kids talk about the day's events is my idea of fine conversation - it's our little vacation without having to pack!

Our favorite summer tradition is when my parents rent a cabin in the GA mountains (they live in Conway, Arkansas) and call it "Camp Conway". They invite all 6 grandkids up to stay for a week, and my sisters and our husbands go in and out sporadically, enjoying fun family time AND fun alone time. It is such a kind thing for my parents to do. Just love it.

When the watermelons come in season, we eat them every day. We have them for dessert every night, and I take some with my lunch to work. It's not summer without watermelon! Every day.

S'mores! We love to make them in the fireplace in our summer home on chilly evenings, and in the firepit on the beach on warm nights. They never get old!

Happy Summer!

My parents and sister and her husand drive tractors in a 3 day tractor ride that goes on every year. Each year I take my kids to watch tractors drive by for a day. Everything moves a a laid back speed and it's neat to see all the old tractors.
