My favorite childhood summertime memory hands-down is getting together with my cousins and our parents making homemade banana ice cream! We used an old ice cream maker, big ol' thing that you had to do outside, nothing like what's available now. Boy, that was fun and the ice cream was great, especially getting to lick the beater. :)

Memories of summer - heading down to my grandparents holiday home in walking distance from the beach, swimming, making sand castles, playing cards and board games, eating Warnboro macaroni and having fish and chips for lunch

my favorite summer-time memory was when i would spend time on my grandparents farm in grants pass, oregon as a child. i loved collecting the chicken eggs because it always felt like searching for burried treasure. they had a beautiful vegetable garden and i loved helping my grandmother dig for potatos and picking green beans. they had a pond full of ducks. some of the ducks would eat bread that i would put in between my toes. my grandparents are now 87 and 88 years old and no longer have this farm. my 2 girls, ages 4 and 9 are building their own summertime memories with my grandparents now (their great-grandparents).

My favorite childhood memory is just the freedom and the free time we had as kids. Our neighborhood was so different from the one my kids are growing up in. We had a yard full of kids in our yard every day and at night the parents all sat outside together chatting (and enjoying cocktails too) There were no play dates, no camps, no video games, no planned anything...just get up, eat breakfast, get your bikes out and gather with the rest of the kids and head off. Such a fun, easy going way to grow up.

from elementary school age my favorite memory is playing outside with the neighbor kids; from junior high age my favorite memory is picking strawberries. . . so many of my friends went to the same field.

Without a doubt, my favorite memories of summer are staying with my grandparents. There was a swimming pool in their town, and I spent hours there. We would also go to the lake where my grandma and grandpa had a trailer. The whole family would go onto Grandpa's pontoon and float lazily on the water for the day. There was a park closeby with rides, cotton candy, and snow cones. What fun -- just being a kid and enjoying family.

My favorite summertime memory was visiting Utah every 3 years or so. I didn't like the very long drive from Maryland...but I did enjoy the time spent with our extended family who all lived there. All my grandparents are dead now, but I have been able to scrapbook favorite memories of them.

My favorite summer memory has to be visiting family friends in Maryland on our way home from spending time with my Mom's family in Germany. My parent's friends, whose son and I were always confused for twins when we were little tots, hosted us at their house and we kids spent every afternoon exploring, making up games, catching fireflies in jars (I had never seen fireflies before as we didn't have them in CA), swimming in their grandparent's pool, and eating fresh corn on the cob, barbecued meats and super sweet watermelon. Great memories!

staying up late, playing with neighborhood kids and camping in a tent in the backyard. Sadly, these are all things my kids are missing out on :(

I think my favorite memory was just being a kid and running around or riding around all summer long in the neighborhood with my friends. Basically leaving after breakfast, stopping home for lunch and dinner and then back out to play until we hear mom whistling us in for the night. Just simply playing all summer long w/out video games or fancy toys...

My cousins and I would all make games like the ones found at the fair. We'd have to pay from 1 penny to 3 pennies to be able to play. We spent days doing this!

Great giveaways!
One of my favorite childhood summer memories was going to MAD Camp (Music, Art, and Drama). In less than a week, we would rehearse and perform an original musical (written for the camp) as well as several choral anthems. It was always an intense week, but I loved it. Plus, it was set at a campsite in the beautiful Black Hills with perfect weather almost every year.
That camp was really meaningful to me growing up, but I've never scrapbooked about it...I think a page is in the works. :)

Picking buckets of raspberries and blackberries, and then helping my mom freezing them, making it into jam and mouthwatering pies. What a great giveaway!

My favorite childhood memory was when my grandma would come visit. We would walk to the nearest craft store and buy threads and fabric. She would ask me to sketch patterns for her and she would stich them on pillowcases or hankys. She loved embroidering and taught me how.
