Sponsor Giveaways: SewCute Shop

Sewcutegiveaway

One person will receive a Women's Auty Top from SewCute Shop (you will be able to choose your own fabric from her current stock):

Here's a little bit about SewCute Shop and Brandy's mission to do something really good for another family:

I started sewing sometime last year and fell in love. My grandmother (Nana) taught me the basics of pinning patterns, hemming, and seams. After being taught those skills I have really been a self-taught seamstress. I have a true love for putting the most trendy fabrics together and making 'SewCute' items. The items I place in SewCute Shop are my favorites and I am very happy to make them for you.

In March 2009 my best friend's little boy was suddenly diagnosed with adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) - a degenerative brain disease. The movie 'Lorenzo's Oil was made to bring awareness to this newly discovered disease. In early April, Joel, Teresa and Riley Greene aka TEAMGREENE were moved from Chattanooga, TN to Durham, NC where Riley would spend what they thought 100 days after receiving a bone marrow transplant. Due to complications, this week marks 133 TEAMGREENE has been in Duke Hospital.

I made a pledge to donate all proceeds from SewCute Shop to TEAMGREENE until they returned home in Chattanooga. For me sewing has become much more than just a hobby it has been a small part of what allows my best friend to stay by her son's side. For more information on TEAMGREENE visit www.carepages.com/carepages/teamgreene and create a username/password.

When I'm not sewing away I enjoy spending time with my fabulous husband, Ty and two children Autumn (9) and Tyler (2).

I had Brandy make one of these for Anna (see above) and one of these for me (love wearing it over my jeans) and they are awesome.

I wanted to say as well, I'm a graphic designer and recently found a site www.spoonflower.com . they will print fabric that you design in any quantity, even one yard. their least expensive is $18 a yard, which may be beyond what you normally pay as a business woman, however if you were interested I'd be happy to custom design some fabric for you for your endeavors and you never know, maybe they would discount it for a non profit purpose! I'm sorry your freind is experiencing this journey, but it's wonderful that you're walking with her through it.
if you are interested you can see our work here

Wow! Her stuff is just beautiful. My charity of choice has always been the Alzheimers Association since my Grandpa was in advanced stages of the disease when he passed away and there was such a lack of resources in the small town we lived in for my Grandma and mom and uncle who had to be caregivers to my Grandfather.

Outside of our church there are three things that are close to my heart -
    1. Muscular Dystrophy Association - http://www.als-mda.org/ My father-in-law has Primary Lateral Sclerosis, a variation (typically non-fatal) of ALS/Lou Gehrig's disease.
    2. Susan G Komen Foundation - Breast cancer has affected my family in a significant way. http://www.komenarkansas.org/
    3. Paul J. Wendel, MD, Maternal-Fetal Medicine Endowment - http://www.uams.edu (the medical school where he teaches) This is for my obstetrician, delivered all four of my babies, deals with really sick moms and/or babies every day, raises six children of his own (along with his wife who is the most sainted woman alive!) and is truly a godsend to the women of Arkansas who need the care he provides.

How wonderful that Brandy can use her sewing talent to help another family in such a tangible way. It really encourages me to think about what I can do for others.
I appreciate the work of Samaritan's Purse, which extends the love of Christ by providing emergency relief, community development and children's programs around the world. My children have loved to participate in their Operation Christmas Child project each year. http://www.samaritanspurse.org/

I don't have a certain "favorite" charity neither. We are greenpeace members, members of an organisation helping animals (supporting shelters, ...) and we donate to organisations like Unicef. So I'll just go for the Greenpeace link.

Sew (hee hee) many great charities to choose from - it's hard to say which one is my favorite. One thing that has been a favorite charitable giving idea that I'll pass along is this great tip. During the holidays, most bosses give gifts to their employees. Well one of my very best bosses would give a gift not to us - but to a charity that represented/symbolized something meaningful in our honor. I LOVED it. She gave to numerous worth causes over the years in my honor. One year she gave toys to a daycare that was open for the children of working moms just trying to get by on what very little they had. Because I have two boys - she gave "boy" gifts - dinosaurs, play dough, diapers, etc. It was fantastic and I'll remember it for the rest of my life.
