And I am also excited to read more about your readers favorite charities and maybe find a favorite for myself. My favorite is the Huruma House in Africa for orphans. Our church is supporting them, as one woman (as her husband died earlier this year) is providing for and taking care of 150 children and teaching them that they have value and how much God loves them.

North Shore Animal League. We're cat-lovers here, and would love to adopt more pets... but since we really can't have them all (yikes, four is plenty!), we're inclined to donate to no-kill animal shelters.

My favourite charity is Compassion for the marvelous work they do helping children escape poverty in Jesus' name.

Children's Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House in Seattle is where my heart is. My best friend's son was diagnosed with A.L.L. (leukemia) and that's where they lived for 3 years. Praise the Lord he is in remission and cancer free! He was 2 1/2 yrs old when this happened and he's now 12. He is a survivor!

Oh wow, I just love those tops!!! Since I have Lupus I would have to say my fave charity is The Lupus Foundation http://www.lupus.org/newsite/index.html. Its still a pretty unknown disease and could certainly do with more funds for research as there has been no cure found, and no new drugs for Lupus found in over 50 yrs now. They have just found a new one lately though that looks very promising. Very exciting for sufferers like myself.

Whenever I can I support charities such as http://www.nbcf.org.au/ as my grandma died of complications due to breast cancer.

I wanted to say as well, I'm a graphic designer and recently found a site www.spoonflower.com . they will print fabric that you design in any quantity, even one yard. their least expensive is $18 a yard, which may be beyond what you normally pay as a business woman, however if you were interested I'd be happy to custom design some fabric for you for your endeavors and you never know, maybe they would discount it for a non profit purpose! I'm sorry your freind is experiencing this journey, but it's wonderful that you're walking with her through it.

Wow! Her stuff is just beautiful. My charity of choice has always been the Alzheimers Association since my Grandpa was in advanced stages of the disease when he passed away and there was such a lack of resources in the small town we lived in for my Grandma and mom and uncle who had to be caregivers to my Grandfather.

Outside of our church there are three things that are close to my heart -
1. Muscular Dystrophy Association - http://www.als-mda.org/ My father-in-law has Primary Lateral Sclerosis, a variation (typically non-fatal) of ALS/Lou Gehrig's disease.
2. Susan G Komen Foundation - Breast cancer has affected my family in a significant way. http://www.komenarkansas.org/
3. Paul J. Wendel, MD, Maternal-Fetal Medicine Endowment - http://www.uams.edu (the medical school where he teaches) This is for my obstetrician, delivered all four of my babies, deals with really sick moms and/or babies every day, raises six children of his own (along with his wife who is the most sainted woman alive!) and is truly a godsend to the women of Arkansas who need the care he provides.
