Yesterday & Today Begins In One Week & A Giveaway
Tags:In just one week my new workshop begins at Big Picture Scrapbooking:Yesterday & Today.
It's hard to believe it is almost finally here.
And in case you didn't know already, you're invited to join me.
Here's what I want you to know if you are still considering embarking on this journey with me:
• With a focus on the stories from yesterday & the stories from today, this class is really an in-depth look at the way I scrapbook.
• Each week (on Thursdays) you will receive an email inviting you to the classroom where a video presentation will be waiting for you to access on your own time (you do not need to be online at a certain time - it's just one of the awesome things about Big Picture's classroom set-up). These video presentations are not just a 5-15 minute talk about the subject and the layout - so far they are averaging around an hour. During that hour my goal is to inspire you to take a look at the way in which you scrapbook and encourage you to focus on the things that matter most to you within the framework of the theme for that week.
• In addition to the video presentations there are weekly video tutorials showing my processes for concepts and techniques using Photoshop Elements.
• For those of you, like me, who like to actually read the weekly content there will be a color PDF download detailing the concepts and information covered in the video presentation (as well as a how-to for the weekly project).
• Each week there will be a digital element download and a digital layered template (all new). The digital elements will be used as printables (hybrid elements) on the weekly layout and the layered template will match the paper layout I create for each week.
• Even if you will be away for a time during the class you will still have access to the materials.
• The class will have it's own message board & gallery for sharing and communicating with one another (including me).
• This workshop is a chance for you to:
investigate your past through words + photos
do something meaningful with older photos if you have them (or to tell those stories that have meaning even if you don't possess the photos)
tell your own personal stories of success + challenge + growth
work on embracing imperfection & going with the flow
celebrate your everyday life + make sure you are capturing stories that are meaningful to you today
connect with other people who care deeply about collecting + celebrating the stories of their lives
• The cost for this 13 week class is $99.
I am really, really excited for this workshop to get underway.
I hope to see you there.
Want to know more? Additional details, an audio introduction, and registration can be found here. Registration will close on October 7.
And now, the giveaway.
Three people are going to win a spot in my Yesterday & Today workshop. To be entered please share just the subject of a story about yourself you would like to document. Comments will close tomorrow, Friday September 24th at noon Pacific. Winners will be posted shortly after.

Having cancer invade our family recently, there has been a lot of making up for lost time. Learning family history and realizing the stories behind the women in my family. Because their is a generational cycle in our family of tumultous mother-daughter relationships, it can be hard to remember the positive attributes that have been passed down.
I would love to have a layout, even a whole scrapbook dedicated to these women. Telling of their strengths and their stories, going back as far as my great-great grandmother through to my daughters and I.
Although we have been affected by it, I am pleased to say my daughters and I have broken this cycle. Not by my doing, but by His grace!

I'd like to document the story of how I was given a dream job assignment, though it meant I could not get pregnant for a number of years, at I time that I wanted to have children and had been trying unsuccessfully. I agonized for a couple of weeks, and turned down the job, hoping I hadn't sacrificed a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for nothing if unable to get pregnant. Days later, I found out I was pregnant (twins) and probably had been at the time I was agonizing over my decision. I truly felt it was a gift from God for making the right decision.

I would like to document the story of my namesake and great grandmother. I have never met her, but, feel her close to me all the time. I draw inspiration and courage from her life.
Thanks so much for this opportunity!

I have a terrible memory, so I'd like to do an album based on the book "Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life" about my own childhood/teen years.

I'd like to document my Dad's story. He comes from a family of 5, he is the youngest of the 4 boys. His mother died when he was 5. He and his brothers ran wild until they were placed in an orphanage. He was the only one to be adopted. All 5 children got and stayed married, had children, worked, two went to college and all gave back to the community. I want to document their courage; their journey and their amazing spirit.

I want to tell the story of growing up in a log cabin in the woods and the adventures we had. It's so different than my life now, and the life my daughter is having. We were throw-backs even then, and now it seems like that kind of life doesn't happen.

I would like to document the story of me. What it was like growing up, what I did, my relationships with people so that, heaven forbid, something happened to me, my kids and people that I left behind would have a tangible reminder of who I am/was.

My brother scanned in thousands of photos from the early ninteen hundreds to the present. And then he and my mom talk to the last of our relatives from earlier generations. I would love to put those pictures together with the stories!

I would love to be able to tell stories of my life accomplishments so my family would know more. And learn more of everyday small life stories.
Thanks

I would like to write a story about how for five generations, there has only been one daughter. From my daughter all the way back to my great-grandmother, and it might be longer, we don't have history beyond that. :)
Thanks for the opportunity Ali,
a fellow Oregonian...

First of all, let me thank you for this class. I've actually already signed up for it. I haven't scrapbooked in months. And it seems like forever. I'm in a similar situation to you. I have an 8 year old boy and a 7 1/2 month old girl. I read your blog and just wonder how you find time to get it all done. So signing up for this class, I hope will give me the inspiration and push to get back at it.
As for what I would like to document, it's my relationship with my mother. She passed away in 1992. Until recently, I only had a handful of photos of her or of both of us. I recently received several boxes of photos from my grandmother spanning all of her and our lives. I'm so happy to be able to delve into them.

I am doing this for a friend. She would LOVE to take this class and has some amazing stories to tell, but it just isn't in her budget right now. She is one of five girls and they are a very close knit family and have always been into photography, so she has a lot of photos she would like to do something with. Her parents are getting older and she would like to do this in honor of them.

My mother-in-law found boxes of great, old photos her mother had kept many of which can't be identified. So, I would love to preserve what she remembers before that is lost as well.
