Yesterday & Today Begins In One Week & A Giveaway
Tags:In just one week my new workshop begins at Big Picture Scrapbooking:Yesterday & Today.
It's hard to believe it is almost finally here.
And in case you didn't know already, you're invited to join me.
Here's what I want you to know if you are still considering embarking on this journey with me:
• With a focus on the stories from yesterday & the stories from today, this class is really an in-depth look at the way I scrapbook.
• Each week (on Thursdays) you will receive an email inviting you to the classroom where a video presentation will be waiting for you to access on your own time (you do not need to be online at a certain time - it's just one of the awesome things about Big Picture's classroom set-up). These video presentations are not just a 5-15 minute talk about the subject and the layout - so far they are averaging around an hour. During that hour my goal is to inspire you to take a look at the way in which you scrapbook and encourage you to focus on the things that matter most to you within the framework of the theme for that week.
• In addition to the video presentations there are weekly video tutorials showing my processes for concepts and techniques using Photoshop Elements.
• For those of you, like me, who like to actually read the weekly content there will be a color PDF download detailing the concepts and information covered in the video presentation (as well as a how-to for the weekly project).
• Each week there will be a digital element download and a digital layered template (all new). The digital elements will be used as printables (hybrid elements) on the weekly layout and the layered template will match the paper layout I create for each week.
• Even if you will be away for a time during the class you will still have access to the materials.
• The class will have it's own message board & gallery for sharing and communicating with one another (including me).
• This workshop is a chance for you to:
investigate your past through words + photos
do something meaningful with older photos if you have them (or to tell those stories that have meaning even if you don't possess the photos)
tell your own personal stories of success + challenge + growth
work on embracing imperfection & going with the flow
celebrate your everyday life + make sure you are capturing stories that are meaningful to you today
connect with other people who care deeply about collecting + celebrating the stories of their lives
• The cost for this 13 week class is $99.
I am really, really excited for this workshop to get underway.
I hope to see you there.
Want to know more? Additional details, an audio introduction, and registration can be found here. Registration will close on October 7.

The story I would like to share is when my 2nd Grade teacher told me I was stupid because I could not pronounce the word "Pocahontas." Please understand, this was WAY before Disney came out with the video. I remember sitting on the blue carpet in my reading group being laughed at. WHY would I want to document this story? Because I share it every year with my 6th Graders as an insurance policy to them that they will never be humiliated in front of their peers. I even now strike the pose that Pocahontas does when she sings, "Colors of the Wind." I explain to them that obviously, 36 years later, I still remember that day vividly and I want them to feel safe, take risks and never be worried about being made fun of in my classroom. I learned more than the word "Pocahontas" that day, that teacher showed me how not to be and I believe my students are better because of that one little word!

I would love to document the relationship with my best friend of more than 25 years. He is a wonderful and very special person, even my little son loves him to pieces.

Whenever I think of telling a story about me, the quote from Abraham Lincoln comes to my mind, "All that I am or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother." I have long wanted to capture all the memories and stories of my relationship with my mother. All the "funnies" and cute things that were so her, and all the advice and sweetness that she gave to me that made me me.
Thanks for the chance to win a spot. My fingers are crossed! :)

I would like to document some of my stories from High School. I came across a bunch of pictures that my parents still had and I've actually had some success in restoring the colors - so I want to make some fun layouts with those stories. Since my children go to the same high school it would be fun for them to compare the "then and now".

The summers spent at my grandparents' farm and how my uncle taught me to drive the tractor for baling hay the summer my dad was sick with kidney stones (some 42 years ago). Thanks for asking - and for sharing your goodness!

It seems like most of my memories of childhood come from pictures. My brother has been scanning our family photos and I'm anxious to use those to pin down my childhood memories before I forget any more!
Thanks for the opportunity, Ali!

One story that I love to tell but have never documented is the day I delivered my daughter. It's quite an amusing story. Thanks for the opportunity.

I would like to document a story about my relationship with my grandparents. Since my grandmother is still living at 93, I would love to include some quotes from her.

I would like to take the time to document my actual feelings towards my children. It seems that so much of my scrapping is always about "events"... Christmas, Halloween costumes, trips to the apple orchards. I would like to take the time to document more emotion in mini-books for each of my children.

I would like to work on some childhood pictures. I have an album started but it's kind of slowed down and some inspiration is just what I could use to get back to it.

My Mother illustrated my lunch bag everyday from 1st grade through 4th. There would be themed weeks such as clouds, words-of-the-day or special love messages. I have every lunchbag I ever took to school in storage. This is one special childhood memory I want to document.
