For Today : October 15th

Inspired by The Simple Woman's Day Book. I did one entry last June and felt like it was time to do it again.
Outside my window...many of the beautiful bright yellow leaves have fallen from the branches.
I am thinking...about and looking forward to getting together with my siblings and their families for Halloween. Also looking forward to getting together with some college friends on Monday.
I am thankful for...Chris returning home safe & sound after 2 weeks in China. I am thankful for Simon doing his homework tonight without complaining and prolonging the process. I am thankful for our babysitter. I am thankful for the students in my online class who are fearlessly embarking on telling the meaningful stories of their lives.
From the kitchen...taco salads for the big people; beans & cheese for the little ones. And lots of honeycrisp apples.
I am wearing...a pink hooded sweatshirt, black cropped yoga pants & no shoes.
I am creating...a few more projects for the end of my Yesterday & Today class.
I am going...to go to bed as soon as I finish this post. Tired. Tired. Tired.
I am reading...Beauty: The Invisible Embrace by John O'Donohue just a few pages each night before lights out. I've been really inspired by him ever since listening to his interview on Speaking Of Faith.
I am hoping...to start working on my December Daily soon. I am so ready, but need to finish a couple other things first. I am also hoping to stay well...I feel like I am on the edge of getting sick.
I am hearing...the sound of our neighbor's truck pulling in to his driveway.
Around the house...there is silence. Everyone is tucked away in their beds. I don't usually stay up late - I am more of a morning person - but every once in awhile I just keep working. And I pay for it in the morning when the alarm goes off at 6am to get Simon up and ready for school.
One of my favorite things...looking at all these old family photos square-punched on my table.
A few plans for the rest of the week...family time, a little adventure, a little dressing-up, and checking a few more things off my to-do list.
A picture to share...

Of course we just happen to have a few extra keyboards that make good table toys for Anna while Simon is working on his homework. The technology she will know in her lifetime...
She is so cool.

You might like to take a look at Stokke high chairs When Anna is a little older. We have them for our two little ones and at 4 and 6, they still use them. The chairs are fully adjustable in height for seating and feet. The plus for us was that they moved right up to the table making the kiddos feel a real part of what was going on. They are even strong enough for adults to sit on them.

Thanks for sharing Ali - I think I need to go thru this process also - love the point forms.
Also loving your class Ali - it is just so much fun. Still looking for some pictures that got tucked in a safe place - know what I'm looking for, but can't find them.
Have a great weekend.

Awesome! I can do journaling for a layout that way, since I usually struggle with that one...

I love it when you do this kind of journaling. You are so "real" and an inspiration to all of us....to make it simple! I wished I could have joined your class but I am in school (3 classes) and working 30plus hrs a week so I knew I wouldn't have time. Hoping you do another one so I can join. Have fun with friends and family!!

I loved reading this. I also loved how my 1st layout turned out for your online class, even though my large photo was less than ideal in quality. Taco salads sound yummy. Need to add that to my dinner list. Have a wonderful weekend!

How funny...I had exactly the same thought as I looked at Ali's photo!! My son is 4 years-old and uses his Stokke chair as much as he did when he was a baby! I highly recommend them.

Two things. :) First honeycrisp apples are just the best things in the world! I just discovered them last week and I am surprised everytime I take a bite because they are just that good! I need to pick up some more asap because I ate them all!
And the other thing, I watched your class yesterday and when you said something about not needing to know all the details and just documenting what you do know, a story I have been wanting to tell for years just clicked with me! My grandmother was a scrapbooker, not in our sense of scrapbooking, but in the traditional sense and she recognized the value in passing on her stories to me so I could pass them further. And several times she told me the story of her life during the depression and how she finally was able to get a job, and other details about her life then, and I was so stuck on what she was paid per week, because I remember her telling me several times and I just can't remember the number. And I felt like she wanted me to remember it, but I just can't. So I have hesitated in telling that story for literally years. And finally yesterday I did not do my Y&T homework lol, but I did scrap that story, and told what I do remember, because in another 10 years I won't even remember that, and I just tweaked it to talk about not only what she told me but my experience of being told the stories in her house, where we sat, the timeframe, etc. It just spilled out of me. So thank you so much for that little tidbit of wisdom. :)

LOVE LOVE LOVE the Stokke chair. Got my fitgeting 2 YO to sit still at the table. Also, UMCKA, you can get at whole foods, take when on the verge of getting sick. 7 of my frinds just dodged colds this month. You have to take it IMMEDIATELY when you feel blah!

I totally have plans to get a Stokke of those when she is a bit bigger :). For now this one we have has been awesome (totally did not anticipate how much I would like it).

Love this little capture of what's going on right now. (And now I want to go buy some honeycrisp apples.) Can't wait to dig into Week 3 of your class. :)

Great idea for a LO, Ali, thanks for sharing. Definitely worth doing one of these every six months or so, as a record of how your daily life changes. Fab recommendation. You are a font of inspiration :)
