For Today : October 15th
Tags:
Inspired by The Simple Woman's Day Book. I did one entry last June and felt like it was time to do it again.
Outside my window...many of the beautiful bright yellow leaves have fallen from the branches.
I am thinking...about and looking forward to getting together with my siblings and their families for Halloween. Also looking forward to getting together with some college friends on Monday.
I am thankful for...Chris returning home safe & sound after 2 weeks in China. I am thankful for Simon doing his homework tonight without complaining and prolonging the process. I am thankful for our babysitter. I am thankful for the students in my online class who are fearlessly embarking on telling the meaningful stories of their lives.
From the kitchen...taco salads for the big people; beans & cheese for the little ones. And lots of honeycrisp apples.
I am wearing...a pink hooded sweatshirt, black cropped yoga pants & no shoes.
I am creating...a few more projects for the end of my Yesterday & Today class.
I am going...to go to bed as soon as I finish this post. Tired. Tired. Tired.
I am reading...Beauty: The Invisible Embrace by John O'Donohue just a few pages each night before lights out. I've been really inspired by him ever since listening to his interview on Speaking Of Faith.
I am hoping...to start working on my December Daily soon. I am so ready, but need to finish a couple other things first. I am also hoping to stay well...I feel like I am on the edge of getting sick.
I am hearing...the sound of our neighbor's truck pulling in to his driveway.
Around the house...there is silence. Everyone is tucked away in their beds. I don't usually stay up late - I am more of a morning person - but every once in awhile I just keep working. And I pay for it in the morning when the alarm goes off at 6am to get Simon up and ready for school.
One of my favorite things...looking at all these old family photos square-punched on my table.
A few plans for the rest of the week...family time, a little adventure, a little dressing-up, and checking a few more things off my to-do list.
A picture to share...

Of course we just happen to have a few extra keyboards that make good table toys for Anna while Simon is working on his homework. The technology she will know in her lifetime...
She is so cool.

What a great idea for a snapshot of your life. I need to do this.
Loving your class - I'm one with few photos of my childhood, but just decided how I'm going to deal with it. You inspire me to think outside the box.

Love this post - I abandoned my December Daily so early...hmmm....should I start over or pick up? I was reading your twitter - about the "glitter it up" comment? I once took a class from Shimelle, still makes me smile to hear her call it "tart it up" :)

Oh, on the QK site for new Silhouette downloads, they have a set of numbers with different designs and I IMMEDIATELY thought how cool to use for the December Daily this year! I should start on that ... lol.
Also, with Anna and technology ... yeah. It is ASTOUNDING, isn't it? When I was her age ... no computers, no VCR, no cordless phones, etc, etc. Quite magical when you think about it.

Oh Anna's hair in the last photo is cracking me up. She has a case of the baby birds like my Ellie does.

Hi Ali,
Great post! You mentioned December Daily. Do you prepare the entire album in advance and just add your photos later?
Thanks!

I have Stokke chairs for both of my kids (DS almost 6yo but is bigger for his age, DD 3) and they LOVE them. It's definitely worth the buy.
You inspired me with your post, Ali. I'm going to sit and think about those things today too.
Thank you! :)
Have a wonderful weekend!

I love this idea - a snapshot of life. Do you intend to make this into a layout, or did you make your entry from June into a layout? If so, how? Thanks for sharing!

The idea is to do most of it in advance so that you are just adding photos and journaling and a couple other things during the month.

Loved reading this, Ali. When I was searching around for the "Normal Day" poem, which I found by the way, I saw the Simple Woman's post from June. I ♥ these. When I saw it yesterday it inspired me to start doing one once a week. Gotta pick a day now.
I think I may do the December Daily this year. I have to admit, I made a FAB book last year, just the bones, and never really got my act together to finish it. :(

So glad you posted this again! When you first did, I followed through and wrote out about that day too. With today's reminder, I surprised myself by being able to find the first written example (yay for somewhat being organized!) so I then added another about today. I hope you continue to post these so it'll remind me to do the same!! Thank you!

Ali - thanks for the continuing inspirational blog posts. I know from reading the other comments that I'm not alone in finding nearly everything you write triggers something positive for me, even if it's just a regular 'daily life' post. Love this set of starter points you used today and will use my answers on a layout soon.
Please do pay attention to what your body is telling you about needing extra tlc - you are no good to yourself or your family if you ignore these warnings!

Hi Ali, thanks for the inspiration, even if it is just to THINK about the great things I have in my life right now! Wish I could have signed up to to Yesterday and Today, I do hope you'll create a workshop or book from it once the online class is finished. If you thin you're coming down with a virus try Olive leaf extract tablets!
