I made homemade mashed potatoes tonight for dinner.
Since I live alone, I never usually bother cooking as it's easier to go out. But tonight I took the time to gather all the ingredients and cook up a nice fluffy bowl of mashed potatoes for my dinner. Perfect!

Just for me, hm. Candlelight baths with Lush Bubble Bars, that's quite something else! Love the scents, being embraced by warm wate...

It's Thanksgiving weekend here and we're going to my brother's for dinner. When I asked what I could bring, they said "just yourselves." And I said, "OK."

The thing I did for myself was I went to the beach by myself and just sat there in my chair watching the waves and the blue sky and the birds. No kids to chase after, no food to pick sand out of, no hyper-vigilance of keeping kids safe in the water to stress me out. I need to do this for ME more often! Great giveaway, Ali!

a few months ago I got my belly pierced. Something I had wanted to do when I hit "40" but waited a few years. So glad I did it. It's something I know is there and my group of friends who went with me-it's kind of like my little secret. If you saw me on the street you'd never guess I would have done this.

Something I've done for me recently was just yesterday when I had myself a simple, but sweet, 35th birthday party in the backyard of my friends beautiful garden. It was just the girls. We each made a dozen cupcakes and swapped. We had a great time chatting over cupcakes and coffee. :)

While the rest of the family was out I sat on my mother-in-law's front porch - at her log cabin in the mountains of WV - and read Shiloh cover to cover. Magical.

Just for me . . . I have noticed that too much "stuff" is accumulating in our house, and I have decided that it is TIME to declutter big time. This will be VERY difficult for me when I get to my scrapping area. However, it needs to be done. No more saving things that I "might use one of these days". I need to purge! Being "lighter" around the house will make me feel oh so good!

I hired someone to help me catch up with my house cleaning. I was ashamed at first, but it gave me such a boost to be able to tackle the rest.

After five months off for the Summer, getting back to scrapbooking is the something I have done for myself. With struggles at work due to the economy, scrapbooking is truly stress relief for me right now.

I gave my husband baby-duty Friday evening so that I could take a long shower, read a book, and cook dinner for us at a leisurely pace. Nothing huge or fancy, but a couple hours to myself was just what I needed.
