December Daily : Foundation Pages : Days 13-25

DD_cover2

Welcome back for the second half of my December Daily foundation pages.

Here's a look at days 13 through 25:

Day13

DAY THIRTEEN : Teresa Collins scalloped edge chipboard. Number 13 will be added on later.

Day14
DAY FOURTEEN : Santa tag from Paper Source (Vintage Christmas gift tags - will be using these for presents too). Tag is sitting inside another divided page protector that was trimmed to fit inside the page protector that came with the album. "14" are mini Jenni Bowlin rub ons.

Day15
DAY FIFTEEN : Red envelope from Paper Source. Red Circle Number from Every Jot & Tittle.

Day16
DAY SIXTEEN : Transparent clock from Heidi Swapp (I think I have had this in there all three years too). Journal card is a 25 Days of December Photo Overlay from Designer Digitals.

Day17

DAY SEVENTEEN : Awesome big glitter dot paper from Making Memories. Scallop edge created with the Fiskars Apron Lace punch. The backside of this is green flocked pattern paper from Art Warehouse. Those two patterns are simply glued back to back.

Day18

DAY EIGHTEEN : This pattern strip was cut from Making Memories Pattern Stripe Mistletoe paper. I slipped it into the page protector and stitched down along the edge to create a pocket that was just the right size for the strip. The open area will be used for my content during December.

Day19

DAY NINETEEN : Another page using the Teresa Collins scalloped edge chipboard. I added a plastic file tab to the top and wrote "nineteen."

Day20

DAY TWENTY : Santa image from IowaJewel's Treasures. She has a great collection of vintage holiday kits available. Red Circle Number from Every Jot & Tittle. For this page I trimmed up the Santa image, inserted it into the page protector and stitched a line down the side creating a second pocket for my daily content.

Day21

DAY TWENTY-ONE : Fun Advent Mistletoe paper from Making Memories. Scallop edge created with the Fiskars Apron Lace punch.

Day22

DAY TWENTY-TWO : Jenni Bowlin bingo card. I stitched down the side and trimmed off the rest of the page protector.

Day23

DAY TWENTY-THREE : Random brown file folder trimmed to fit.

Day24

DAY TWENTY-FOUR : Canvas page that was included with the album. Pocket created by sewing a sheet of Hambly overlays on top. Santa tag from Paper Source. "24" are mini Jenni Bowlin rub ons.

Day25

DAY TWENTY-FIVE : 25 is from the Making Memories Mistletoe Dimensional Stickers package. It's tucked inside a baseball card page protector that has been trimmed down to fit inside the larger page protector that came with the canvas album.

Storage

ONE MORE THING : Take some time after you get your album together to re-organize your supplies again. I like to have things organized before December so that on that first day I can concentrate on the content/photo/story rather than being consumed by too many unorganized supplies. These containers from Art Bin work great for storing holiday supplies. I have paper in one and embellishments in the other.

I hope seeing these images inspires you to create your own December Daily project. There are so many options to make things even simpler or more complicated if that fits your style.

You are also welcome to join the Flickr group and share your album or just browse for inspiration.

Come back tomorrow for a special mid-week giveaway related to the holidays.

I love this, Ali! I love the idea of making it *before* December so that it's easy to record all the special little 'happenings' of the holidays without feeling overwhelmed, and I love the variety in the pages. I'm going to start today! Thanks (again!) for the inspiration :)

I am so excited. I figure out how to post photos of my DD 2009 in your Flickr DD Group! Yeah for me! Now if I could only figure out how to link it here, I could really be proud of myself. We're never too old to learn new tricks (I'm 45!).

Thanks Ali!! I love seeing your album--always inspirational and puts me in the "holiday mood" to start gathering my supplies...Although, I didn't quite finish everything up from last years (guess I should before I start this years...:)) I'm sure a few others share the lack of 100% completed...How do YOU stay on top of it? Is it daily that you add content or do you jot notes and add the content every few days??

as always, an amazing and inspiring job on the december daily. i could hardly stand the wait of what you would come up with this year!
i LOVE the different ways you used the page protectors, and my favorite; the baseball page protectors. Those just put it over the top for me and made me realize again that this CAN be simple and pretty much any way i want it to be. there is no right or wrong in this department! hence, allowing myself to make my second daily december album!!!!
    thanks for teaching this!!!! :)

Did you use big grommets or eyelets on each page?

That is a very practical idea on putting the numbers on as you do the album. I also ran into that issue last year. Thanks!!!

I love your vintage elements and the items that are not necessarily scrapbook-y! These elements so remind me of Christmas past (way past like when I was a little girl).

Thanks so much for all of your great ideas throughout the years. I have done this album for a couple years now. I attach an envelope on the inside of the back cover for extra photos that I didn't use in the book. Ali, your ideas of keeping it simple (not having to use every photo or everything) has given me have a sense of accomplishment. ONE other think I do is....let my kids pick out photos that they like.

Good question and to be totally honest I have no idea - many things have been purchased at different times over the last few years/sent as samples, etc.

I am curious, what is the fabric that is on the inside of our album cover?

I usually end up adding pages (often they are full size photo or journaling pages) and I plan to do that again this year. In general I don't make additional Christmas scrapbook pages but sometimes I do if I have a bunch of photos and more specific stories to tell that just won't fit in this album. The idea here is to capture glimpses and little moments of the season :).

I am usually really good at getting one page done per day. I am already in the habit of regularly uploading photos and selecting one or two to print is pretty simple. Now that the basic structure is complete it makes it easier to focus on the photos/words during the month. By the end of the 25 days as it gets close to Christmas Day I end up doing it every couple of days. No stress - just go with it :). I give myself permission to focus on the people around me and get to it when I can ;).

I really try to do it daily - keep it as simple as possible - words + photos. If you miss a couple days don't stress - just jot down some notes, print your photos and stick them down :).

Nope - on the pages where I added grommets/eyelets they are smaller than the ones that came on the pages of the album (not sure the exact size).

I am also doing the paper clip on the number method this year. Last year i also moved some numbers around. I bought some cardstock numbers rather than stickers so they could be movable as that day's pictures or journaling dictates. I do like to attacth them to give myself some format.

    Ali:
Love the way you took the time to add grommets. Some of my pages from last year are already a bit worn around the metal rings. I'll add grommets or some plastic around the rings to reinforce. You also really kept the patterned paper to a minumum. Was that intentional?

I think it was - I am really wanting to just focus more on the photos and the words. These pages are really just a base for me to add those in - I may end up adding a bit more with my photos depending on the story for the day.

I love what you've done. I'm jealous of all the cool stuff you have in your album already (the vintage Santas, etc.). Will you add a date to this album at all, even by just tying a tag to the rings?
