Journal Your Christmas Giveaway

Jyc20092

The first time I did any sort of journal/creative adventure during the holiday season was Shimelle Laine's Journal Your Christmas back in 2005 (
check out my December 2005 archives for more).

My experience in Shimelle's workshop inspired me to create my first December Daily in 2007 that was published in my Studio A column in Creating Keepsakes magazine. The main differences being that I set up the structure of my album in advance (trying to keep it simple) and that I wanted to focus on documenting the daily activities over the course of the 25 days leading up to Christmas without specific prompts.

Over the last couple of years there have been lots of people that have combined the two concepts - creating a foundation in advance and using Shimelle's prompts as guides for page topics and inspiration.

It's a creative adventure I highly recommend so I thought it would be fitting to give away a spot to Shimelle's class this week.

One person and a friend of their choice will recieve a spot in Shimelle Laine's fabulous Journal Your Christmas online workshop.

Journal your Christmas is an online class that takes you right through the Christmas season, from the 1st of December to the 6th of January - the twelfth day of Christmas. Through 37 full colour prompts that arrive in your inbox daily, you'll be inspired by topics that let you enjoy this year's celebrations while reliving your very favourite Christmas memories, and you'll have plenty of ideas for making your pages with hundreds of beautiful examples from a variety of scrappers.

Instead of letting the holidays run you, a Christmas journal has helped many women take back their Christmas so they can enjoy and celebrate the magic of Christmas. Other class benefits include a printable Christmas planner, digital and printable supplies designed exclusively for class and a bonus guide to improving your Christmas photographs including easy-to-use tips from dozens of professional photographers.

To be entered into the giveaway please leave a comment below sharing how you plan to create a more sane holiday season (or more crazy if that's what you need). Comments will be closed on Thursday at 8pm Pacific with the winners posted shortly after.

We planned ahead this year and took a trip as Christmas presents to all! The actual season will be much less busy with less to purchase and wrap. We have more together times planned just for fellowship!

I plan to enjoy the season with my family. I hope not to get caught up in the business of it all and enjoy the true meaning of Christmas. Baking cookies, decorating the tree together with the kids, and focusing on the time spent with family and friends will make for a more sane, enjoyable season of celebration.
And making lists doesn't hurt as well :)

This year I'm going to concentrate more on the meaning of Christmas rather than the materialistic version of the holiday. I'm making handmade gifts this year, so that will definitely be less hectic than traditional Christmas shopping.

In order to avoid the hectic scenes of great numbers of people together in small spaces and little children getting hyper as a result, we've made plans to only invite small numbers of people and attend only small gatherings for not too long and to spread these out over two weeks. Low key and simple and so much more enjoyable for all ages!

Hi Ali! Thanks for this fab giveaway. I'm currently taking Shimelle's Blogging for Scrapbookers class, and am loving it, so I'd love to win this prize!
My holiday season will not be sane at all as I will most likely be moving from the U.K. back to the U.S. Luckily, I will most likely be staying with my parents for a while, so I get to have a family Christmas this year!

I plan on creating a more crazier, busier holiday season because my son just turned two. We are a part of a mommy/kid playgroup with tons of activities everyday/all month long. I plan to do tons holiday crafting workshops now that this year we are settled in and can venture out more. There's so much to do! Gingerbread making, light decorating, tree sprucing, the list is endless. I'm totally excited! :)

I am planning on getting my shopping done early, as we are a big family, every year we pull one adults name out of the hat and you buy only for that person at an amount agreed upon by all, by the 1st of December everyones wish lists have to be in to whomever is buying for you. This works like a dream, it is just the childrens gifts to buy that takes a bit of brain storming.

I plan to create a more sane holiday by not over doing anything. I have already purchased all gifts that will be given and even picked up a few extras in case I find myself without a gift. Having all my shopping completed (as of yesterday) certainly leaves plenty of time for taking it all in.

We definitely won't be traveling this year! it was insane being away from home for Christmas. Even though I did spend Christmas with family, it wasn't the WHOLE family. I can decorate this year and take my time getting ready for Christmas rather than the insane madness of last year.

Online class?! I can do that!! being I'm across seas.
My family and I are away from our families living in South Africa...so what I'd like to do is keep things simple and just focus on the true meaning of Christmas as well as start some memorable family traditions for my 4 year old boy.

I'm so excited about christmas this year as i've had a baby and it his first christmas, so like other years we'll be doing lots of special things to make the season special, I'm looking forward to being organised and making an album for him to look back on in years to come, I also want to let him know about the traditions we followed as a child.

My husband and I are spending our first Christmas alone in 20 years. I will need to be super organized in getting the mail to our kids on time, but on the home front, I see that it will (I hope!) be relaxed and I will have time to do some memory building for the future and memory searching in the past.

This will be our first Christmas with a new baby - I want to remember everything and have something special for her when she is older. Thanks you for all the great ideas!

Last year there were so many presents, that the focus of the kids was more on unwrapping the presents fast, rather than actually being able to take the time and enjoying what they received. So this year Santa and us will make sure the amount of presents will be less overwhelming and more enjoyable :)

We have quite a few favourite things we like to do as a family during the holiday season. What we have done over the last few years is not to make plans too spesific, and be happy just to have family time. Last year we did not get to decorate the gingerbread houses for the kids until 27 Dec, and it still was just as much fun!! I'll plan the week ends and leave the week days more flexible.
And I find that hot cocoa with wipped cream and cookies always makes for a magic time with three kids :)
