Saying Goodbye To Studio A
Tags:
The December issue of Creating Keepsakes is the last issue for my monthly Studio A column.
Studio A debuted back in January 2006 (the first theme was scrapbooking your intentions). Each month since then I have been given the opportunity to create pages & projects that were interesting & inspiring to me at the time. Over the years CK gave me a ton of freedom to decide my own content/topics and allowed me to find & maintain my own voice in the pages of the magazine. For that gift I am extremely grateful.
I am also especially thankful to my column editor Lori Fairbanks who was always able to take what I had written and make it flow and fit the space available.
The decision to end the column was mutual; the editors and I both felt like it was time for a number of reasons. I am very thankful to CK for the opportunity and the experience. I am currently working with the magazine to gain access to the Studio A PDF's to add to the initial archive located here. I will let you know when those files are updated.
Will you still see my pages & projects in Creating Keepsakes? At this time, no (you may potentially see some feature articles from me in the future but nothing is currently scheduled).
Right now I am making plans for what's next for me. I will continue blogging. I will continue designing products for Designer Digitals and Technique Tuesday. I hope to do more online education. I will continue telling my stories and making stuff. I am looking forward to moving forward.
I am also very thankful for all of you who have read my column over the last few years and have shared your own stories with me. I love what I do and am so grateful that I get to share my passion for telling stories creatively with photos & words.

Ali you were one of the main things that got me to subscribe to CK as well as attend my first CKU. (That week in the life class literally changed my scrapbook habits and how I approach things. It has been a wonderful eye opening experience.) I am sad to see that you have decided to leave CK but I am also excited to see what new adventure is in store for you. I can't wait to see some new stuff from you! :) Good luck on your new chapter! :)

Ali just wanted to let you know that I will truly miss your monthly column in CK. Just recently I purged my old CK magazines but before I gave them away I tore out every one of your columns and put them in a binder. All of the content from those articles are still current today. Thanks for all of your inspiration over the years!
Glad to hear you will still be blogging!!!

There have been so many changes at CK that I guess I am not surprised. Disapointed, but not surprised. Being able to "check in" with you here on a daily basis totally rocks, so you will remain one of my daily visits.

Ali, one of the things I most admire about you is your ability to face change without fear and while I'll miss seeing your columns I applaud you for always staying true to your visions. (And *I* know where to find you!) LOL! May life always bring you the best ... in the same fashion in which you always brought it to us in C.K.

I'm not a subscriber (was a Simple fan) but when I'd go to the bookstore I'd try to find the CK to read your column. Looking forward to seeing the content here and in other place.

Wow...I echo many of the comments in that you were the best part of the magazine but certainly understand your desire to change it up a bit and find new outlets for your creativity and inspiration. Thank you for being up front and thank you for your ongoing efforts to inspire and guide all of us out here :-)

I had a feeling after the last article. I am sad, as your article has been the 1st and last thing I turn too, and the reason I subscribe...you will be missed, but I apprecite the opportunity to read you everyday. You helped me take the stress out of scrapbooking.

Oh Ali, I'm happy for you, but so sad for all of your CK fans. Your column has long been my favorite part of the magazine - your approach, your style, your knowledge, all combined for a great column. Best of luck to you in the future - I'll keep following you online!

That's too bad. Your content was really one of the main reasons that I subscribed to CK. I always felt that your creations had such a realness about them, with big heart. I will miss seeing your beautiful pages every month.

As I sit here and read this sad news with much disappointment I catch myself in mid-grump . . . What am I doing right this very second? The answer is stitching a cover for my Gratitude Album that came as a thought while doing my DD. Where did I get this inspiration? Not from the magazine but from your blog.
I too will miss terribly Studio A - and along with countless others it was the reason I still subscribed to CK. I know that your decision did not come lightly or easily. I also know that I can be inspired by you everyday via your fabulous online presence. Thank you for all you give to us. Take this time to breathe and press the pause button for awhile.
Always,
Trisha

Everything happens for a reason, Ali. Good, Bad or Otherwise. You've been and will continue to be an inspiration to so many people. May the road ahead lead you to wonderful things.

Thank you for all the time you took away from your family, your home-making, your friendships and your own creative work to teach all of us through Studio A. I've been following (and learning from!) your work since you first appeared in CK and began blogging and it's clear that you've grown into a new space. CK will not be able to replace you or your work. I hope what you are leaving pales in comparison to the beautiful new beginning you are entering into.
