Saying Goodbye To Studio A
Tags:
The December issue of Creating Keepsakes is the last issue for my monthly Studio A column.
Studio A debuted back in January 2006 (the first theme was scrapbooking your intentions). Each month since then I have been given the opportunity to create pages & projects that were interesting & inspiring to me at the time. Over the years CK gave me a ton of freedom to decide my own content/topics and allowed me to find & maintain my own voice in the pages of the magazine. For that gift I am extremely grateful.
I am also especially thankful to my column editor Lori Fairbanks who was always able to take what I had written and make it flow and fit the space available.
The decision to end the column was mutual; the editors and I both felt like it was time for a number of reasons. I am very thankful to CK for the opportunity and the experience. I am currently working with the magazine to gain access to the Studio A PDF's to add to the initial archive located here. I will let you know when those files are updated.
Will you still see my pages & projects in Creating Keepsakes? At this time, no (you may potentially see some feature articles from me in the future but nothing is currently scheduled).
Right now I am making plans for what's next for me. I will continue blogging. I will continue designing products for Designer Digitals and Technique Tuesday. I hope to do more online education. I will continue telling my stories and making stuff. I am looking forward to moving forward.
I am also very thankful for all of you who have read my column over the last few years and have shared your own stories with me. I love what I do and am so grateful that I get to share my passion for telling stories creatively with photos & words.

I have only really discovered you in the last year or so, so I am sad to see you leaving CK but happy that you will be continuing your blog and doing on line classes I look forward to seeing what inspiration you provide to us next and setting up an archive in relation to your column would be fantastic.

Your column was what kept me reading every issue! The magazine will not be the same without you. I am glad that I keep up with your blog (I check at least 3 times a week!) and you are such an inspiration. Thanks for letting us into your life and keeping it real, always.

NOOOOOO!! You are the only reason left to get CK. First Becky, now you, I see that magazine going out of business soon, It's so sad to see this hobby we love loosing all the publications that made it so big. I am sure what ever you do it will be wonderful and we will all be here waiting anxiously, ready to support you.

I bought CK (newsstand) simply because of your articles, Ali. I know you are hearing this from a lot of people and I am by no means speaking unkindly of all the other really talented people who are contributors to CK. But you always seem to speak to me. I got what you were saying and it made me "want" to take pictures and write down stories of my life.
I know you will continue to be a powerful force in the industry. Others like me will continue to find inspiration from you where ever you go.
I wish you everything that is good... And brighter things for the new year.

Oh how sad for us. this is worse than Oprah leaving. I do look forward to what ever future projects you work on. I'm loving Y&T. I will miss my monthly dose of Ali in CK. And the last few months you've had 2 articles and I've felt so spoiled.
Good luck in your future adventures; I will be happy to tag along for the ride.

I have taken 1/2 the day to reflect on this news, grateful for all you have given me in terms of documentation, creativity and observation. I am welling up, already missing your input, you creative objectivity, your feelings through words. How much you have shared of yourself and your family. I loved every single minute. I will continue to follow your work whatever it may be, whatever direction. Thank you for the inspirations, for keeping it real, for making all of us want more, and we really do want more. For printing every article, saving and documenting in a "bible" type application everything you have ever shared. Thank you. I have learned more and shared more in my albums because of you. I am forever grateful. I look forward to everything you produce in the future that you share with us, you give us strength. You give us the desire. You give us courage to try and explore. You have made me better at the craft, the art, the expression. You have made me stop and think. You have made me document and share. I can only hope this is the beginning of something bigger and better. I am smitten and I am not the only one. Continue . . . please. . . . we are all listening, waiting and wanting more.

I don't want to be a CK basher, but I too have continued to keep my subscription because of your column. I really hope you continue to be a strong presence in this industry. You are one of the best. A constant inspiration.

I am really sad to hear about you leaving CK, I subscribed for your article so it makes it easier to not renew as I have been extremely disappointed in the content of the magazine lately. I am excited for you and I am LOVING your Yesterday and Today class at Big Picture Scrapbooking.

I am sad to see you leave CK. Your column is one of the reasons I continue my subscription. I love the inspiration. I also have enjoyed your technique tuesday stamps/projects. I hope that your new journey is fun. This will truly be a loss to ck and I imagine a loss of subscription renewals.

Dear Ali,
'So glad to hear of your new and continued ventures. I hope that I am lucky enough to take one of your online classes.
Yes, you will be missed at CK; scrappers everywhere will still be inspired by you and for that we are so grateful.

Congrats for you and your family--but oh, Studio A was the only thing I really looked forward to. I was just organizing my scrap ideas (torn out mag pages) last night, and I think I have most all of the Studio A's.
But I'm currently in your BPS class--and cannot imagine the time, effort, energy, creativity, etc. that you have put into that to give so much to us. I look forward to what is to come.
Plus I go to your blog and Karen Russell's every day before heading out to work--my daily inspiration and jumpstart!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours--and thank you for the blessing you've been to me (and many others!)

Sad to see the end of an era but thrilled to know we can still follow you on your blog. Thanks for teaching me that there are no rules for scrapbooking and to focus on the story and the pictures.
