Saying Goodbye To Studio A
Tags:
The December issue of Creating Keepsakes is the last issue for my monthly Studio A column.
Studio A debuted back in January 2006 (the first theme was scrapbooking your intentions). Each month since then I have been given the opportunity to create pages & projects that were interesting & inspiring to me at the time. Over the years CK gave me a ton of freedom to decide my own content/topics and allowed me to find & maintain my own voice in the pages of the magazine. For that gift I am extremely grateful.
I am also especially thankful to my column editor Lori Fairbanks who was always able to take what I had written and make it flow and fit the space available.
The decision to end the column was mutual; the editors and I both felt like it was time for a number of reasons. I am very thankful to CK for the opportunity and the experience. I am currently working with the magazine to gain access to the Studio A PDF's to add to the initial archive located here. I will let you know when those files are updated.
Will you still see my pages & projects in Creating Keepsakes? At this time, no (you may potentially see some feature articles from me in the future but nothing is currently scheduled).
Right now I am making plans for what's next for me. I will continue blogging. I will continue designing products for Designer Digitals and Technique Tuesday. I hope to do more online education. I will continue telling my stories and making stuff. I am looking forward to moving forward.
I am also very thankful for all of you who have read my column over the last few years and have shared your own stories with me. I love what I do and am so grateful that I get to share my passion for telling stories creatively with photos & words.

CK has made a lot of questionable changes this last year and only time will tell if they are/were the right ones...I know a lot of scrappers I know no longer look to ck as a source of inspiration due to those recent changes...I think ck is shooting themselves in the foot by no longer running Studio A...I know whatever you work on next will be bigger and better than Studio A-you have lots of 'cyber friends' out here rooting for you-
YOU GO GIRL!!!!!

Shocking! What will they replace it with. Look forward to the PDF files as for the last 5 years i've been ripping out the pages from each magazine.

Yep - I echo the sentiments above. I was a SS subscriber first and when that went bye-bye - your work and Becky's was the only thing to help transition me. Now that you aren't gonna be there regularly and Becky's out too - I really don't see a need to subscribe... Viva the BLOGOSPHERE!!!

Like many others have said, your column is one of the main reasons I subscribe to CK. I'm so sad that both you and Becky Higgins are no longer with CK, but I'm excited about the new journey that you ladies are on now. Well wishes!

First Becky, then Lisa and now you? Goodness, I feel like I was suckered out of a two year subscription a couple months ago

This is kinda sad to me, Ali. Your column was one of the things I most looked forward to in CK. I will miss it. I do wish you the best in whatever endeavors you pursue, and I will keep an eye out for more online classes from you.

Ali, love and admire you and your work so much! Know the future will be much brighter for you now as it seems CK media is not a great one to be associated with these days. First, Simple Scrapbooks. Now you and Becky Higgins. No need to continue my subscription is all that needs to be said. Keep up the gorgeous work- new and better avenues will open for you. You are such an inspiration to so many. Was so very sad when SS was ceased but look at the great things all of them have put together!

Thank you for letting us hang around for the ride. I am sad to see you leave CK. Like many others have said. Becky's sketches and Studio A were the main reasons I have stayed with CK over the years.
Best wishes for your next adventure.

You and Becky Higgins in the same year. Holy cow!!! I will desperately miss your articles but have to admit that wa the only reason (and Elizabeth Kartchner) thought i even bought it anymore. I can not wait to see where you go next. How exciting for you. I think you will have quite the following wherever you head off to next. Best of luck and see you somewhere very cool soon.

Ali, I will miss seeing your work in CK. Like many other scrappers, I have looked for your work first and I am sad it will no longer be there. I am excited for you to be moving on, it is good for all of us to go through "change" even though it is not always the easiest challenge to meet. I am anxious to see where your path leads you and I wish you the very best on this creative journey. Thank you for giving us so much.

Like many others commenting today, I too subscribe to CK simply to see your work! In fact, it was CK that introduced you to me and I am grateful! I am happy to see that you are going to continue blogging as that has been a constant source of inspiration for me. Thank you and best wishes for your future! Blessings.

I know this has been said so many times, but you are the only reason I subscribed! I was so happy with the December issue to see 2 articles written by you. What a bummer. Any chance you could come out with your own newsletter or something we could subscribe to? Oh well, no more CK for me. I am happy to see that the columns may be available on your website all in one place. So I guess that's the silver lining. :)

I really have enjoyed your column every month, I am sad to see it go. On the other hand, I totally understand that it is time for you to move on. You are such an inspiration to me and I can't wait to see what you bring in the future. Good luck and Happy Holidays!

Ali: I'm sure I'm not the only one who will be waiting with bated breath to see what good things will be coming next. You are the reason my stories are being told. I will miss your articles, but take comfort in the fact I can always come here for more inspiration!
Attention CK: The only reason I subscribed (besides the killer marked down price) was Studio A. I am totally willing to let it go once my sub runs out.

This makes me so sad! I've continued getting CK just to see your column and am so thankful for the inspiration it gives me. I hope you continue to post your page ideas on your blog and maybe come out with more books... you're such a wonderful artist, Ali. Thanks for always being honest and inspiring on your pages.

The world of print is changing rapidly.
Studio A is the reason I've read CK in the past.
Thank you for sharing your voice, art and style here on your blog, we are very fortunate.
I look forward to all your bright changes in the future.

I so looked forward to your columns. It was my favorite part of the magazine. You will be missed in this forum but we'll just have to be grateful for your blog and classes. Please keep doing what you're doing. You are such an inspiration for us all. And a gifted teacher as well.
