I love the Christmas tree at night, it feels so peaceful to sit by it and just look at the lights and think of all the wonderful memories the eclectic collection of ornaments evoke.

My favorite tradition is the little elf named Fiona and the three gingerbread babies (Rena, Rufus, and Ruckus) that hang around our house during the month of December. They play with my three youngest children (one girl and two boys...coincidence?) during the day and make messes during the night. Sometimes they're nice though and bring cool treats to the kids - stuff like a new puzzle or a countdown calendar or silly socks. It's so awesome having magic in my house the entire month and not just on one night. I want it to last forever!

I love the IDEA of putting up our tree as a fun, festive family event. More often than not, it seems like a scene from Chevy Chases' Christmas Vacation movie, but alas...it is our family.

Every December I look forward to all the special treats I make with my mom -- caramels, rosettes, chocolate crinkle cookies. Sadly, this year we aren't able to spend this time together, but am looking forward to recreating them on my own for good friends ; )

Every year, my mom and I get new PJs that match for Christmas Eve. Even though I'm grown it's a tradition we've kept up for about fifteen years now. It's fun to have tea and cookies and take photos in our matching (sometimes fur-trimmed!) pjs.

I love hanging the ornaments on the tree. Each one is special and unique. I enjoy remembering each of their stories, even if it is only to myself.

Our favorite family tradition is going to my in-laws house on Christmas day. The family members all sit in a circle and open up the presents that my wonderful mother-in-law has been buying for us all year. We each take turns and open one-by-one. Then she and "Bompa" sit on the couch and we all present our gifts to them. They usually cry with happiness! I love it!

Favorite Christmas tradition, hmm... I think I like collecting ornaments and saving/cherishing ornaments from past Christmases. Since I was a child I get a new ornament each year and we continue that on with my kids.
