Sponsor Giveaways : Studio Calico, Memory Works, Lisa Leonard, & Designer Digitals

Three people will win the entire Home Front collection (papers, stickets, journaling cards, and FabRips) from Studio Calico.
The concept of Studio Calico began long before it was a reality. In 2000, while working at a local scrapbook store, April developed an appreciation for innovative supplies along with a respect for preserving memories. Thus, the concept of combining fresh products with non-traditional scrapbook supplies emerged.
At Studio Calico, we hope to encourage the creative process by providing the best supplies on the market as well as a community that is supportive every step of the way.
In the past 2 years we've grown from an idea, to a small boutique of sorts, to manufacturing our own products. As we've grown, we've stayed true to the basics, while looking to the future.

Three people will receive the lovely Word Of The Year necklace from Lisa Leonard Designs.
In addition Lisa is offering a discount for readers. Enter "myword15" for 15% off your purchase.

My word for 2010 is patience. I am going to try and use more patience in all aspects of my life this new year. I want to slow down and enjoy my surroundings more than I have in the past.
Happy New Year!!

My word for this year is RELEASE. There is a lot I need to let go of: clutter, debt, and weight. One of the many actions toward my goal of letting go is to keep a daily journal and just jot down whatever I am feeling, so I don't let those feelings manifest themselves into behaviors (spending, eating) that would be contradictory to my goal.
Here's to a great 2010! I love everyone's words so far...

My word for the year is NEW. I've decided I need a new approach to many aspects of my life. This last year had it's struggles and down points so I need to shake off the old and look towards the new. I've decided it also means trying the new- being more brave to try new things and new experiences. Wish me luck! :)

For 2010 I choose the word optimism. I want to have the courage to face life as it is.
My plan is to take care of myself. To have more time for me. Life shouldn't always be "I'm in a rush! I'm on the run!" Life is good.

The Simple Stories video is great and so is Lisa's blog! All the giveaways are super! Thanks for doing it.
I'm still pondering different words. I love the idea of picking a word. It's simple and somehow more freeing. Last year I wrote down 9 goals. I achieved one. So I think a word is more positive. My tradition is to review the past year and then focus on how I want to live my life for the upcoming year so that I'm happy and my family is happy.
Thank you very much Ali for doing your blog. I really enjoy checking it out every day. I'm finishing up a December Daily album. I'm so glad I found your blog at the beginning of Dec.
All the best in 2010!

Ali, love the word of the year. Mine is ACTIVE. I am going to be more active - Physically more active, more active in our company, more active in our church. And my first step in doing that is to turn off the computer and get active - right now! Thanks for the inspiration.

My word of the year is SIMPLIFY. To live inside the means of this word I am filtering everything I do (my work time, my free time, my kid time, my house, my finances, etc) through this word. This means cooking meals in bulk (for us and for families in need), passing on purchases I don't really need, getting rid of clutter, and letting go of some things I do now that just cause minutia in my life. It is an exciting adventure and I can't wait to see the positive effects of simplifying.

My word for the year is BRAVE. I am going to start writing that memoir I've been putting off for well over a year. I'm also going to tackle the pile of photos from my year in Europe - one layout at a time.

My word is actually two words so maybe it's my goal: Start Over. Started by packing away Christmas stuff and as I'm bringing out the regular items, I'm doing different things w/them, rearranging, discarding, etc. Things are going to be different this year in all areas of my life.

Hi Ali
My word is SIMPLE.
In my crazy life that has seem to become full of excess - not just stuff, but excess talk instead of action, excess procrastination etc etc, I need Simple.
For me Simple is not about just cutting back, it's about being true and authentic, with myself and with others in a way that is not clouded by smoke and mirrors.
My first action towards Simple was actually at Christmas, where we shared family time with our children and my mum that was not about the gifts (although there were simple, small, fun things shared), but about being together in a real way, an authentic way, as we haven't for a long time.
Simple.
Regards, Sue

My word is Angels.
Anonymous is best:
For Christmas, my husband and I put $160 in a Christmas card for a very dear friend of ours whose family is suffering financially. We gave the envelope to their daughter to deliver, only after making her promise (with a couple of threats thrown in) to never tell anyone about us. The daughter started to tell me what it would mean to the family and I stopped her and just said "Angels" ...(we both cried).
This friend later asked me if I knew anything about it, and I played dumb (of course), telling her she needed to clue me in on what she was even talking about... Phew.... it worked.
HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE.
watch for angels... they're everywhere

Happy New Year Ali and Fam!
The word I chose for 2010 is RESTORE.
I am in the process of listing out what I want the end result to look like. I am going to think about how I can restore the future instead of wasting the present in thinking about how I could have changed the past.
I am going to think about what I need to do to get where I want to be.
