December Daily 2010 | Day Four
Tags:Welcome to Day Four.
Today I'm mixing things up by adding 4, 4x6 photos. To include them in the album I adhered two back to back and punched holes (2 holes). I use rolling adhesive to adhere them together. More images below.
Adhering photos back to back is a great way to include more photos into minibooks.
I started Day Four with another 6x8 photo - I might just keep doing that all the way through and I might not. Right now they are making me really happy.
The word art on the photo is from my December Sentiment Strips package at Designer Digitals.
Here's a look at that first 4x6 photo. Along the side is a 1/2 a cute little circle from Bananafish Studio.
The back photo is one of Simon in the car. Love. The pen I used is another from that same set of Pitt Artist metallic pens from Faber-Castell.
A look at the spread:
On to the other side of the transparent paper:
Close up of the second set of 4x6 photos:
And the back side of this 4x6:
This 4x6 uses the other half of the circle accent from the first 4x6.
You might also noticed that I oriented one set of 4x6 photos with the top two holes and the other set with the bottom two holes. I like the balance that gives to the book.
Journaling went onto a photo again. Simple and easy. Paper along the bottom is from the Anna Griffin Georgette Cardstock pack.
A closer look:
JOURNALING : It’s hard to pass up a chance to visit the snow. Katie & Peter met us at our house around 7am and we started the hour or so drive up to Willamette Pass. The plan was to see the snow, do a bit of sledding, hang out for just awhile and then come back home for the Oregon v. Oregon State football game. It was Anna’s first time to the mountains and she did better than I thought with the cold. I carried her a bit but she also wanted to walk and check things out. Simon was in heaven. He loves the snow and could have stayed up there much longer than we did - this might be the year to get him on some skis. Both Chris I and remember how much we liked being in the mountain snow as kids - the awesome quiet, riding the chair lift, the speed coming down. I’m totally hoping this is the first of many more trips up there this season.

Lovely pictures, Ali! Looks like you had a lot of fun. We got some more snow over here so today we could just go out in the garden for some "fun-in-the-snow".
You are so creative - the idea of using a couple of smaller photos is great! I will definitely use the idea when wanting to incorporate more pictures to a spread.

My day 3 and four are up in one post. My camera has been my best friend the last few days, even more so than before :)

Ha, we had the same idea yesterday! I'm using a little clear binder from Target that turned out to be just 6x8 - perfect! It's supposed to be an organizer type thing, so when I bought it I also bought what they called "business card holders." They hold 3 2.25x3.25 pictures on each side, so I slipped them between the pages for yesterday. Perfect! I like including more pictures when I have good ones ;-)

Loving those snow photos!! Any tips on getting that crisp white look rather than the grey that tends to come out when taking outdoor snow shots?

Hi Sarah - I adjusted the sledding photo in Photoshop by using Levels and Curves. The one of the three of them was luck :)

Oh hey! I have some cream handmade translucsent circle paper like this. Might have to add it to my book too. This is a fun little collection!

Ali, I'm sure it's somewhere in the other posts, but I'm playing catch up right now to get my album together. Are you printing in a 6x8 size or are you printing your pages in 8x10 or another larger size and cutting your pictures/pages down?
Replies
I'm printing here at home so the 6x8 goes right onto an 8.5x11 sheet. If you are uploading to a developer most likely you will want to place your 6x8 JPG on an 8x10 canvas before uploading.

Your album looks amazing! Thanks for all you do.
I ordered my photos today of some things that have happened so far. Can't wait for them to arrive so I can start to put mine all together.

I'm resposting this since I'm not sure if you noticed my question earlier. I’ve been taking pictures and now have my supplies ready to go. What spacing did you use for your holes, as I’m modeling my book after yours? Though my only snow will likely be the snowflakes that fall on my computer screen. I love Macs–I can instantly have snow, a Christmas tree, and lights.
Oh, and we did have a dusting of snow today in Tennessee after all.

Hi Sharon - I'm sorry, I did see that and just forgot to go back to your question. For the first hole (the middle one) I marked a spot that was 3/8 inch from the edge and 4 inches from the top and bottom (right in the middle). From there I did the other two holes - both again 3/8 inch from the edge - and 1.25 inches from the top and the bottom. You can really do it anywhere you'd like :).

One of my favorites so far, Ali. Would love to get some awesome snow shots like that. Unfortunately I live in Houston so that won't be happy. But I'm having fun anyway. Thanks for the inspiration!

Ali, just wanted to thank you for your FB feeds! If I'm not at home I can still read your info OR see that there's something that I need to check out when I get onto the computer.
'Wanted to chime in & mention to everyone that it's NEVER TOO LATE to start your DD!! I still haven't started mine, but I am going to do some journaling (I am *always* taking photos) and piece it together as I have the chance between work, school functions, family time, chores, shopping and ever-elusive sleep.
Even if you only journal or only take snapshots, you can still go back and recreate even "snippets" of your Season - it doesn't even have to be an EVERY DAY thing. It's so much more about the spirit, the feelings, the traditions - whatever makes the Holidays special for you and yours.
BLESSINGS, everyone. <3

It snowed in Nashville today! The earliest I ever remember it snowing. I had my camera with me at church, looked outside and saw it pouring snow but did I take a picture? No! I forgot! I did not take one picture all day. I don't know what I will do a page about now and I was doing so great. Ugh.

How about a page about how you got so lost in the awesomeness of the snow that you forgot to take any photos. Use a cool/simple snowflake as an embellishment and call it good.
Ali - it snowed the exact amount again this morning so I took a picture of my girlie to use for yesterday. Same outfit, same snow so I will just tell myself it was yesterday. LOL!!!

I love the way you've added the extra 6x4's in this entry - what a great idea. Looking forward to seeing those photos with you in them too :) This is my first year doing December Daily and I'm really enjoying it. I think having the overlays and templates has made all the difference for me - thank you! x
