Three people will receive a word necklace from Lisa Leonard Designs.
Lisa's been a great supporter of One Little Word the past few years and came up with a really lovely design for this year's words. For 2011, "the word of the year necklace is a thick, narrow tag with a large ball, strung from sterling chain and finished with a freshwater pearl. we'll hand-stamp the tag with your very own word."
A simple necklace is a wonderful way to commemorate your one little word.

I am grateful for your inspiration to choose a word for the year. 2010 was my 3rd year and I chose "read"....which I am especially grateful for...it got me through a tough emotional year.

I am grateful that I was able to change my work schedule to allow me to go to my mom's chemotherapy apts with her. It also created more balance between being a working mom, wife, daughter, crafter...

I'm grateful for so much this year. For love. For patience. For this pregnancy. For the courage to step off the the "expected" path and strike out in a direction that feels so much more authentic for me, even though I don't know where I'm going. For the financial wherewithal to make that leap. It was a tumultuous, but very good year.

I am grateful for a year that has come to a close without any illnesses or deaths in my family, unlimited text messaging from Verizon wireless so I can text as much as I want with my daughter who is away at college without worrying about a big bill at the end of the month, loving my husband more than in December than I did last January and enduring a year of many, many changes. Happy New Year!

I have so much to be grateful for...but am especially grateful to be healthy and a breast cancer survivor, going on 8 years this coming spring! I'm taking the One Little Word class and my word for the new year is Organize. I want to concentrate on my home and get rid of a lot of clutter!

I'm grateful that my Dad proved his doctors wrong :-) Last April he was diagnosed with end stage COPD and was told he didn't have long to live, not more than 6 months. He was admitted into a hospice program and my mom and I prepared for the worst. Thankfully instead of getting weaker like the doctors predicted, he actually got a little stronger and is now stable. It's been 8 months and although his prognosis won't change and he's still weak I'm so grateful for this extra time we've got with him and for the chance to get even closer to him.

I am grateful that I was alone in my car when I had a car accident 2 weeks before Christmas. My elderly mother or my son could have been in the passenger seat beside me. (I love my family - they saved all the ER ephemera to do a page in DD or are we a twisted bunch to be thinking of DD?!)
Replies
Karen, you and your family are not twisted. Your family is wonderful; they thought of you and your desires while dealing with the initial shock of the accident.
Our history includes the good, the special, the wonderful milestones. It also includes the bad, the mundane, the unexpected setbacks and accidents.
We do the future a disservice if we record only the upbeat successes. They'll fear that they are abject failures!
