Here's the left side:
The biggest addition this past week were the sweet little Valentine's Simon got from his classmates.
I slipped them into an 8.5 inch x 11 inch 9-pocket baseball card style page protector.
All the pockets include two valentine's and some of them have been folded to fit. They were almost all just about the right size.
And the second insert:
Simon received a Star of the Week award for being accepting and calm during transitions. Go Simon Go!
I don't have anything for the back just yet but will find something to slip into the page protector.
And a close up on the right side:
Both the kids were under the weather on Friday and Saturday with fevers. We had a deliciously mellow weekend.
In that bottom photo of Simon he's all wrapped up in a minky blanket sent to him from Kristina at Quilted Treasures (one of my site sponsors). It's pretty safe to say that he's in lovewith this blanket. It's been an almost constant companion since opening the box. He can be a tough kid to find things he really loves (especially related to clothing + textures) so this was a really wonderful gift. Thanks Kristina!

Beautiful! Just beautiful!
You make this project look so sweetly simple. I am really struggling with my PL album. I LOVE the journaling part, but since I don't have children or pets, I am having difficulty with the photography. My husband is tired of taking pictures of me, and I am having a hard time finding things to photograph, especially after a long day at work.
During the weekend, I go for a "photo walk," only to discover that I am snapping pics of oddball things I come across.
Oh, Ali, do you have any tips for childless people like me? There are times that I want to stop this project altogether, but the journaling keeps me moving forward.

Thank you, girls, for your encouragement and comments! Your words and advice refreshed my spirit to move forward with this project.
Many thanks! God bless.
Oh goodness...the sky is the limit. Sometimes (even with kids) and constantly taking photos of ALL the sports and games. I sometimes see a really cool table decor piece or picture or a bird outside...anything. And that will become my photo of the day. Look deep...look around at all the things you love. Maybee its the same grocery store you visit weekly. Allot of my POTD are not always of people...they are of allot of things. Maybee the fabulous dinner or new recipe you tried. Just try that...open your mind and you will be surprised where your camera takes you. Good Luck!!!
What about having "theme" weeks every once in awhile to mix things up? Use one week to document your favorite things in your house, one week documenting your meals for the week, errands you run, books you've read for the month, favorite restaurants, etc.
Good luck.
I am childless too but I am doing PL since two years: Even for childless people there is spring, summer, fall and winter ;-) There is blue sky or rain, cold days, farmers markets, the first flowers, bargain shopping, new clothes, home decorating, birthdays of nieces, getting together with mom or friends, there are hobbys and time together with hubby and so on. Sometime I even take pictures at work. Hope this helps :-)))
I love the idea of a theme. You also might want to think beyond photos and include pieces of mail, receipts, tags, etc so that you don't always have the photo pressure.
As the seasons change you'll likely have different things come up - foods you might eat that are different, the way the trees look outside, etc (not sure where you live). Let it evolve and if you end up with a few empty spots you can always fill them in later with just a nice piece of pattern paper.

I agree with Simon, who doesn't LOVE a minkee blanket????
I have been REALLY loving P365 this year. I decided to go with Becky's kit, and have discovered so far:
1) I love filling all the pockets with photos. Journaling printed right on the pictures before printing.
2) I am super-loving adding in the extra 8.5x11 layouts of special outings, plays, etc.
3) because I'm a digi creature, I'm making my own weekly corner bits, and journaling spaces. . . . next time I'll just order the binder!

I am doing a similar P365 to you Ali, but mine visually looks too busy. I love how your pages are all harmonious and the colours are similar and it just looks so pleasing.

Hello Amanda,
I truly agree with you. Ali is gifted in her work! Her pages always looking pleasing -- always soft and uncluttered. Her pages never shout. I love her work!
I enjoy her weekly posts, and I am examining her style carefully because I want my pages to look attractive as well. I am not fond of visual clutter, and I don't want my PL album to shock and scream.
I felt like mine looked especially busy this week. My take is that it's representative of life :)...and now I'm on to this week.

I just ordered the baseball-card pocket protectors....I've been searching for them forever! I can't wait to get them, hopefully they'll help me organize all the little bits of daily ephemera I am always saving but don't always get around to putting on an actual layout!

Ali ~
I love your rounded corners on your photos. Where do you print them?
Also, I just purchased your long journalers and was wondering what size to print them out? I usually print my stuff from Costco, and I was going to print them as a 8x12, just to make sure they wouldn't be cut off. Do you have any better suggestions? I don't have a home printer for photos.
Thank you so much for all your inspiration for Project Life. I love following your blog.

Hi Stacy - I'm not sure what size it is. It's a small blue one that I haven't seen online recently.
Ali-
Can you share which size of punch you use? Thanks so much!
Stacy
Hi Keely - those photos are printed here at home on a HP Photosmart B8550 printer. I round the corners using a Marvy Uchida punch.
For the long journalers - I've been printing those on 8.5x11 paper here at home. You can definitely make them 8x12 if you want for printing - or go smaller. Lots of options.

I love your PL pages and look forward to seeing them each time. My kit is on order and will hopefully arrive soon.
I recently bought your 365 day overlays and am trialling the Photoshop Elements software before deciding to buy.
Can you point me to a tutorial for an absolute beginner. I can't seem to figure out how to use the overlays.
Thanks.
Replies
Thanks for the reply Ali, I think I have the overlays figured out now - it is PSE that I am finding the main challenge I guess it will be trial and error, I am off to buy the full version of the program tomorrow.
Have managed to get the overlays onto my photos and they look really good. Thanks again for your time.
Hi Sharon - here's a link to my Getting Started With Digital Scrapbooking page: http://aliedwards.com/2010/01/getting-started-digital-scrapbooking.html
That page includes a bunch of different information that might be helpful for you - including downloading, unzipping files, etc (stuff to do before working with the elements).
