Around The Room | Living With Your Photos + Color Inc Giveaway
I'm a huge fan of living with your photos. Out of albums, off your computer and onto your walls.
Over the years I've amassed quite a collection of family images - many of the recent ones being mounted rather than framed as you'll see below (and above). When I first starting hanging up photos I wanted them to be all black frames with white mats. Now I'm really enjoying the variety of both the framed and simply mounted images.
Around our house I've got quite a few gatherings happening on the walls. Some are consistent collections (meaning all mounted or all framed) and others are a mixture of the two.
The first ones I want to talk about line the hall from our entry into the kitchen.
The images are 12x12 photos are "standout mounted" from Color Inc. (Color Inc is a sponsor of my blog and has been generous with samples for me in the past and as you'll see below. This set I purchased on my own. They are excellent quality and have wonderful customer service.) When we moved into this house I ordered eight or nine of these with the intent that they would be grouped together and I love them.
They are mounted onto the wall using Miller Studio Magic Mounts removable mounting tabs. I tried a couple of other brands and these have worked the best.
You might have seen this image a couple weeks ago. This is in our dining area, between the kitchen and living room. This wall has a combination of framed and mounted images. The one of Simon and Anna in the blue shirts is from Persnickety Prints.
Upstairs I've got a few other collections starting. In the room you enter before coming into my office I've got a large standout mount from Color Inc (photo taken by Tracey Clark). That one is 3o inches x 20 inches.
In my office I've included two Ikea frames with 12x12 photos of me and Chris as kids. I enlarged these 1970's photos on my scanner and they were printed at Scrapbookpictures.com. These hung in Anna's room in our last house.
A little collage in Simon's room that includes photos, Star Wars stamps, and a signed photo of Yoda from Frank Oz.
And this one was in Anna's room in our last house. I didn't recreate it here yet, but it was a favorite in the old place.
In our bedroom I'm just beginning to build a photo wall.
The newest addition is a Framed Gallery Wrap Canvas from ColorInc. As one of my sponsors they kindly sent me this new product to review and want me to give one away as well (with your own photo of course).
Here's what they have to say about this new product:
Love the sleek modern style of a Gallery Wrapped Canvas? Now you can add a frame! Our Gallery Wrapped Canvas Frames will give you that same modern and edgy look you've wanted but with a touch of traditional style to give you a unique shadow box feel to add to any home, work, or studio wall space!
These ready to hang Gallery Wrapped Canvases come with a 2 1/8'' deep smooth black laminate frame. These Framed Gallery Wrapped Canvases are really, really nice. I didn't realize when I was ordering it that there's a space between the frame and the wrapped canvas but when I opened the package here at home I was really pleasantly surprised. I'd definitely consider ordering another one.

I too have several gallery walls in my home. Although, I have no wrapped canvases which are quiet lovely. I really enjoy seeing the different things you do in your home to decorate. You are inspiring on so many levels. Thanks again for another wonderful opportunity.

I also have a photo wall upstairs below a skylight that has at least 50 or more photos right now. I have switched them around from time to time. I love them there because their an instant conversation piece and because I can also see them from downstairs too!
Thanks, Holly Bott

I loooove how you've displayed your photos! I have yet to really enlarge or print my photos to frame. I have a few small frames that I place on end tables/coffee tables, but I haven't done a wall of photos before but I really love the look. Thanks for the post- it motivates me to get on that!

I love to digital scrap & made a 12 x 12 photo book (88) pages of our family history from time our parents were little, through the kids, grandkids, great grands and loss of both parents & included pictures of every house lived in from the time my parents were married. My siblings were so moved when they received them as gifts just a month after my mom's passing. I've encouraged them to write their memories in the book to make it very personal.
Now to decorate our home with more pictures of our grandkids as they are growing up fast!

I love photos all over my home, too! Right now I am working on a window frame (it's probably 5' x 6' and over one hundred years old) that we have knocked out all of the glass, painted it black, sanded it and now filling it with photos framed in red frames! I have painted the letters: F A M I L Y in red and they are in the top ports of this window - just enough to house one letter each! love it!

Although I take lots of photos, they just sit on my computer. We have a wonderful wall that I would love to fill with photos but I don't know where to begin. And so it sits, empty... :(

Mine are pretty much displayed in frames on tables etc. I do have a few framed prints hanging in my guest room. Guess I need to get more out and on the walls!

I live with my photos much in the same way that you do. I love photo walls with a mix of frames and mats and mounts. I think the look is eclectic and fun.

Great inspiration for photos! I usually don't LOVE a house with tons of family pictures on the walls but yours are beautiful! Maybe it's the overly posed ones I don't like. I have only hung the professional candid-type photos that we did for each of our 3 kids 1-year birthdays, but they are getting outdated. This would be a great prize to win to update me! Thanks!

My house looks a lot like yours! I have 4 sets of photo groupings in my house. One is of friends, one is of favourite photos, one is at the front door and showcases six 300 year old doors on the houses in Deerfield, MA and the last one is in the spare room, which is our "Travel" room where all of our travel photos are on one wall in mismatched frames.

As silly as it sounds, I was never a super big fan of hanging photos in my house until after my daughter was born. Now, I'm a HUGE fan of finding old frames and repainting them! Last April I also fell in love with canvas prints. They add another dimension and I group them all over the place. I can't imagine ever having lived without all my pictures on display!
Color Inc. was the very first company I ordered a canvas from and it's still my favorite!! The quality is really amazing. I would love this new product! Thanks for the chance to win.

For a long time I felt like I had to display photos only in private areas of the house (like bedrooms) and reserve "proper" art for the living areas that visitors see. Then I realized that I love looking at our photos and started hanging them throughout the house. Really, how often do we have visitors anyway? Plus, our visitors seem to like them! My current fantasy is to super enlarge a photobooth strip and hang it on a prominent wall overlooking our stairs.

Thanks for your post today. I have always intended to use our stairwell as a huge photo wall, but haven't gotten around to it. Seeing your walls is motivating me to do something about it!

I also love to live with my photos on the wall and all over the place. I have an entry hall that I hang photos and am in the process of redoing. I am loving the canvas look.

What a timely post and giveaway! I've recently been focused on printing, framing, ordering, and displaying more of our family photos. My first focus is to print something from each of our professional portrait sessions then to move onto more candid pictures. I especially don't want the pictures I spent money on languishing on my hard drive!

I have 2 canvases that I love in the living room - one of our whole family last year and another with some of the grandchildren. And there are snapshots hanging on a line in the window, on the bulletin board and tucked in the door frames of the china cabinet. The rest live in photo albums or boxes under the bed :) I would love to display a canvas in a frame like this one - thanks for sharing!

I really want to do a photo wall and have been inspired by recent posts on Young House Love. One thing we love is our digital picture frame. Our kids absolutely love it and just stand and watch the pictures go by and point out everyone in the family. Love the idea of a framed wrapped canvas.

We just moved into a new house a year ago and I am slowly but surely adding photos around the house. My latest project is using 3 photo shelves/rails in the living room. We don't have any canvas photo prints yet so would love to try that!
