Around The Room | Living With Your Photos + Color Inc Giveaway
I'm a huge fan of living with your photos. Out of albums, off your computer and onto your walls.
Over the years I've amassed quite a collection of family images - many of the recent ones being mounted rather than framed as you'll see below (and above). When I first starting hanging up photos I wanted them to be all black frames with white mats. Now I'm really enjoying the variety of both the framed and simply mounted images.
Around our house I've got quite a few gatherings happening on the walls. Some are consistent collections (meaning all mounted or all framed) and others are a mixture of the two.
The first ones I want to talk about line the hall from our entry into the kitchen.
The images are 12x12 photos are "standout mounted" from Color Inc. (Color Inc is a sponsor of my blog and has been generous with samples for me in the past and as you'll see below. This set I purchased on my own. They are excellent quality and have wonderful customer service.) When we moved into this house I ordered eight or nine of these with the intent that they would be grouped together and I love them.
They are mounted onto the wall using Miller Studio Magic Mounts removable mounting tabs. I tried a couple of other brands and these have worked the best.
You might have seen this image a couple weeks ago. This is in our dining area, between the kitchen and living room. This wall has a combination of framed and mounted images. The one of Simon and Anna in the blue shirts is from Persnickety Prints.
Upstairs I've got a few other collections starting. In the room you enter before coming into my office I've got a large standout mount from Color Inc (photo taken by Tracey Clark). That one is 3o inches x 20 inches.
In my office I've included two Ikea frames with 12x12 photos of me and Chris as kids. I enlarged these 1970's photos on my scanner and they were printed at Scrapbookpictures.com. These hung in Anna's room in our last house.
A little collage in Simon's room that includes photos, Star Wars stamps, and a signed photo of Yoda from Frank Oz.
And this one was in Anna's room in our last house. I didn't recreate it here yet, but it was a favorite in the old place.
In our bedroom I'm just beginning to build a photo wall.
The newest addition is a Framed Gallery Wrap Canvas from ColorInc. As one of my sponsors they kindly sent me this new product to review and want me to give one away as well (with your own photo of course).
Here's what they have to say about this new product:
Love the sleek modern style of a Gallery Wrapped Canvas? Now you can add a frame! Our Gallery Wrapped Canvas Frames will give you that same modern and edgy look you've wanted but with a touch of traditional style to give you a unique shadow box feel to add to any home, work, or studio wall space!
These ready to hang Gallery Wrapped Canvases come with a 2 1/8'' deep smooth black laminate frame. With a 1/2'' floating space between your canvas and frame, each of our hand wrapped canvas prints will be permanently attached with the finest attention to detail. Each piece will arrive properly finished with a wire hanger, bumpers and Tyvek® backing. A true first class upgrade to your studio or home!
These Framed Gallery Wrapped Canvases are really, really nice. I didn't realize when I was ordering it that there's a space between the frame and the wrapped canvas but when I opened the package here at home I was really pleasantly surprised. I'd definitely consider ordering another one.

We add photos to our walls every chance we get. After our most recent trip to Indonesia, we rearranged furniture in the living room to specifically create a continuous space where we could add 20 new photos we took during our scuba diving. I love the collage look, and like to build our photo walls with frames of different colors and sizes. I have not purchased a Gallery Wrapped Canvas yet - thank you for this opportunity to win one!

Love your photo displays! We do the same and my husband recently started making his own custom frames -- so we have a lot of new photos up in frames - I love it!! :)

In our old house we had a large floor to ceiling photo wall heading up the stairs. It was such a great space for it I left all the frames for the new owner!
Now that we're in our new house - it's time to recreate that wall somewhere else. This might just get me started!

Confession – I do not have one picture hanging in my house. I love taking pictures. I do project life. It is not due to that fact that I don’t have pictures. I just have this ridiculous issue I can’t seem to get passed. In the last 8 years we have moved 6 times. Definitely not complaining we have been blessed with some beautiful houses. I just never settle in the house we are in because I figure we will move again anyway, what’s the point? I want to change this, just not sure where to start. Ali I admire your beautiful walls of photos. Thank you for your inspiration.

I have been trying to get more photos on the wall in my house. For some reason, I haven't been very motivated. Probably because I don't love my house. I have ordered two gallery wrapped canvases and only have one hung. That's on my to do list for this year. I love your arrangements. Thanks for sharing!

At this time I have photos in various rooms, on walls in small collages but my husband and I have been discussing putting more photos up. Love your ideas and I am going to share your blog with him tonight to see if he likes some of your ideas. I just think he will. Thanks for sharing.

This post couldn't have come at a better time! We just painted our upstairs hallway this past weekend. All old pictures came down and I've been sitting staring at the walls thinking about what I was going to do...now, I've got several ideas.
Thanks Ali - Love to win and get started!

Over the last few years I have started some of my own photo wall collections. I love having the pictures out and visible. They bring a smile to my face or lift my mood when I see them.

I love photos all around our house. I recently saw someone who had one wall painted red. In the center she used molding to build a frame and inside she put multiple photos. I loved it, I am still trying to convince my husband that it would work in our house. :)

Slowly acquiring collections around the house, but they don't look nearly as cool as yours! Would love this new style to start a classy photo wall in our dining area. Thanks for the opportunity (and constant inspriration)!

I have a very eclectic, unplanned approach to photos in my home! I have tabletop frames scattered throughout the house - on end tables, bookshelves, etc.; and a couple of multi-photo frames hanging on the walls. I love the idea of having large photos on the walls - but up til now, I've always had beautiful art prints that were a good substitute. Still not sure how I'll move forward from here... =)

Besides albums. . .our photos 'live' on the walls of our home -usually in some sort of repurposed item. I need to be better about updating the photos -possibly adding to more of them.
One that I will never change or move is stationed on the wall just outside my master bedroom. It is a collage I did that shares photos of our family on vacation in 2005. Our son Chase, who passed away less than 2 short weeks after that trip, has several very cute photos in it. I find it very comforting to look at them when I missing him.

I love being surrounded by pictures of loved ones and places. They have stories behind them. When I pass by them, I smile & remember that this house is full. Over the years, I've learned that although I admire and like beautiful purchased prints & pictures, they don't always warm my heart in the same way.

We have a large wall of photos in the living room and I try my hardest to update it every year. It is sometimes hard to take down some old favorites, but I always end up loving the change afterwards.

right now, i'm "living" with most of my photos on a hard drive and in my facebook albums :P...hoping i would be inspired, i hung a bunch of empty frames up on the walls in several rooms to get the spacings/groupings right, but 6 months later they're still empty! lol. your photos have re-sparked that inspiration. thanks, ale!

I love photo walls, I think they make it more homey than housey. I've gotten one wall finished (family photos and kid shots) and the other started. Since we moved into our house (nearly 2 years ago) and had our twins (about 16 mo. ago) it has been hectic and lots has yet to be unpacked. I was so excited to get some of our photos back on the wall. It feels like it brings the room together, even though the photos are all from different time.

I love the wrapped canvases you have in your house! They are an inspiration to get the photos off of the computer and out in the house. We have pictures of our children with family and special friends around the house at their level b/c we live far away from most of our loved ones.
Thanks for the giveaway and inspiration.
