Thankful Thought | No.1
Tags:I love that when my parents come to visit my kids only want Grandma to put them to bed.
"Grandma do it." says Anna.
"Grandma!" calls Simon as he rounds the corner to go upstairs to his bedroom.
I'm so thankful for that relationship.
I'm starting a new occasional series called Thankful Thoughts and you're invited to join me.Each time I post a Thankful Thought (a photo + a few words) I'll include a free numbered overlay download for you to add to your own photo. I'm also included a rounded-corner photo mask in this first download for those of you who'd like to have rounded-corners on your photo.
Download Thankful Thought | 001 here.
Also for this first download I put together a video tutorial on how to use the overlay and the rounded-corner photo mask.

Thanks so much Ali. I think I may keep that rounded corner mask right on my desktop, it's so useful!

Thanks for the overlay and the clipping mask. I am forever having to recreate the clipping mask for my layouts and I always think "I should really save this."

Thank you so much for this. I am new to PSE and am now very proud of myself for actually working out how to get the frame over the photo! You can see it on my blog: http://suburbansahm.blogspot.com/2011/03/thankful-thought-no-1.html

Adding my thanks for the clipping mask, overlay AND tutorial. I'm new to photoshop and digital scrapbooking, so really appreciate these tools.
Can I ask, on an overlay such as this one, can a person change the text or is it permanent?

Hi Barb - on this one (a PNG file) the text is set. You can erase the text with the eraser tool and then type in new text. If you'd like to see a tutorial on adding text to an overlay go here: http://aliedwards.com/2011/02/adding-text-to-overlays-long-journalers-in-elements-and-word-video-tutorials.html

How blessed your kids are! Both my parents & my husband's parents are deceased so our kids are without grandparents and that breaks my heart for them that they miss out on that kind of relationship. I can empathize with them though as I grew up without grandparents as well. Reading your post made me smile, reading how much your kids love their grandparents. Thanks for the overlay!
